Overview
PhotoBiz ECommerce allows you to create products that can be sold through Client Galleries, through a Products Block on your website, or both. Products can include prints, physical products, services, image collections, digital downloads, and other items you want clients to purchase.
You create and manage each product in ECommerce, then add it to the appropriate price list. Client Galleries use the price list assigned to the event, while Products Blocks on your website use products included in your Global price list.
This guide walks you through creating a product, entering its customer-facing details, and reviewing the additional settings available after the product is created.
Log into your PhotoBiz account and click ECOMMERCE in the left-side menu. This opens your ECommerce Dashboard.
Hover over SELL ONLINE at the top of the ECommerce Dashboard, then click PRODUCTS. This opens your product list, where you can create new products and manage existing ones.
Click NEW PRODUCT to begin creating your product. The product setup panel will open so you can enter the information and sales settings for the item.
Enter the NAME, DESCRIPTION, and PRICE for your product. These are customer-facing details and will be displayed with the product when you make it available for purchase through a Products Block on your website or through a Client Galleries price list.
Choose whether to CHARGE TAX and CHARGE SHIPPING. If the product requires an additional shipping charge beyond your regular shipping rates, enter that amount under ADDITIONAL SHIPPING COST.
If clients need to select images from a Client Galleries event when purchasing the product, enter the appropriate MINIMUM PHOTOS and MAXIMUM PHOTOS amounts. Leave these fields blank if the product can be purchased without selecting an image.
Set ACTIVE to YES when you want the product available for use, then click CREATE PRODUCT.
After you click CREATE PRODUCT, PhotoBiz opens the product editor with DETAILS selected.
The menu on the left gives you access to additional product settings:
You can configure additional settings based on the type of product you are selling.
Use PHOTO REQUIREMENTS when a client needs to select one or more images from a Client Galleries event as part of purchasing the product.
You can leave Photo Requirements blank if the product does not require an image. Clients can then purchase the product without selecting an image from their gallery.
When Photo Requirements are configured, PhotoBiz automatically includes the selected image information with the product on the order. The order displays the image thumbnail and file name so you can identify which image the client selected.
For complete instructions, see How to Set Photo Requirements for My Products
Any product you create in PhotoBiz ECommerce can be sold through Client Galleries by adding it to a price list.
You can create different price lists for different Client Galleries workflows. The products available for purchase in an event are determined by the price list assigned to that event.
Creating a product and setting ACTIVE to YES does not automatically add the product to a Client Galleries price list.
For complete instructions, see How to Create a New Price List
Products can also be sold through a Products Block on your PhotoBiz website.
Products Blocks use the products included in your Global price list. To make a product available through a Products Block, make sure the product is included in the price list you have designated as Global.
The same product can be sold on your website and through Client Galleries. You do not need to create separate copies of the product.
For complete instructions, see How to Set a Price List as My Global Price List
Set CHARGE TAX to YES when sales tax should apply to the product. Your sales tax rates are configured separately in your ECommerce settings.
For complete instructions, see How to Collect Sales Tax on Products in PhotoBiz.
Set CHARGE SHIPPING to YES for physical products that should be included in your shipping calculations.
Use ADDITIONAL SHIPPING COST when the individual product requires an extra shipping charge in addition to your regular shipping rates.
Digital products and other items that do not require physical delivery generally do not need shipping enabled.
You can organize products into categories to make them easier to manage in ECommerce.
Products can be moved between categories using drag-and-drop after they are created.
Product categories are used for organization. They do not determine which Client Galleries price lists or website Products Blocks can sell the product.
If you need to make changes later, see How to Edit an Existing Product.
Why isn't my product showing in Client Galleries?
Make sure the product is set to ACTIVE and has been added to the price list assigned to the Client Galleries event.
Creating or activating a product does not automatically add it to a price list.
See How to Create a New Price List.
Why isn't my product showing in a Products Block on my website?
Products Blocks use the products included in your Global price list. Confirm that the product is ACTIVE, is included in the correct price list, and that the price list has been set as Global.
See How to Set a Price List as My Global Price List.
Can I sell the same product on my website and in Client Galleries?
Yes. The same ECommerce product can be included in your Global price list for your website and in other price lists used with Client Galleries.
Does every product need Photo Requirements?
No. Leave Photo Requirements blank when the product does not require the client to select an image. Clients can then purchase the product without attaching an image from a Client Galleries event.
If your product does require image selections, see How to Set Photo Requirements for My Products.
How do I know which image a client selected for a product?
When Photo Requirements are configured, PhotoBiz automatically displays the selected image thumbnail and file name with the product on the order.
Can I sell a downloadable file as a product?
Yes. Use DIGITAL DOWNLOAD after creating the product to configure how the customer receives the file.
See Selling Digital Product Downloads in PhotoBiz ECommerce for the complete workflow.
Can I edit a product after I create it?
Yes. You can change the product name, description, price, images, options, Photo Requirements, digital download settings, stock, metadata, tags, and other settings at any time.
