How to Apply Sales Tax to Shipping in PhotoBiz ECommerce

Overview

PhotoBiz lets you choose whether a sales tax line includes shipping charges in its taxable subtotal. You can turn this setting on when creating a tax line or update a tax line you already use. This guide shows you where to find the setting and how to check the result at checkout.

Before changing your tax settings, confirm whether you need to collect sales tax on shipping for your business and the locations you serve. PhotoBiz Support cannot advise you on tax requirements.

STEP ONE

STEP TWO

At the top of the ECommerce Dashboard, hover over PAYMENT, then click TAXES.

STEP THREE

Click the tax line you want to update. If you have not set one up, click NEW TAX LINE and complete its tax rate and location settings. For help with those fields, see How to Set Up Sales Tax in PhotoBiz.

STEP FOUR

Find APPLY SALES TAX TO SHIPPING? and select Yes. This includes shipping in the taxable subtotal when this tax line applies to an order.

FINAL STEP

Save the tax line. If you are creating a new tax line, click ADD TAX LINE.

Review a checkout that includes a shipping charge and an address covered by your tax line. Check the order summary to confirm that the tax amount is calculated as expected.

Helpful Notes

APPLY SALES TAX TO SHIPPING? is set on each tax line. If you use multiple tax lines, review the setting on each one that should include shipping.
The tax line’s location settings determine when it applies. Selecting Yes does not add sales tax to shipping on every order.
If you do not have an applicable tax line, this setting will not add sales tax at checkout.
To stop including shipping in a tax line’s taxable subtotal, edit that tax line, select No, and save your changes.
