Overview
TXT records are commonly used to verify your domain with third-party services such as Google Search Console, Microsoft, Flodesk, email providers, and other online tools. If your domain is using PhotoBiz AWS Route 53 name servers, you can add TXT records directly inside your PhotoBiz account.
This guide explains how to add a TXT record to your domain’s DNS settings in PhotoBiz. By the end of this article, you will know where to open the DNS Zone Editor, how to enter the TXT record, and what to expect after saving your update.
Before you begin, make sure your domain is using PhotoBiz AWS Route 53 name servers. DNS management inside PhotoBiz is only available for domains using AWS Route 53.
If your domain is still using PhotoBiz legacy Rackspace name servers, the DNS management option will not be available in your account. You can upgrade your domain name servers to AWS Route 53 if you want to manage DNS records directly through PhotoBiz.
If your domain uses third-party name servers, such as GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, or another domain provider, you will need to add the TXT record through that provider’s DNS settings instead.
You will also need the TXT record value provided by the service you are verifying. TXT records must be entered exactly as provided by the third-party service.
A TXT record is a type of DNS record that stores text-based information for your domain. Third-party services often use TXT records to confirm that you own or control a domain.
For example, Google Search Console may ask you to add a TXT record before it can verify your domain. Email providers, marketing platforms, and business tools may also use TXT records for verification or email authentication.
Log in to your PhotoBiz account and click DOMAINS in the left-side menu.
This opens the Domains area, where you can view and manage the domain names connected to your PhotoBiz account.
Locate the domain you want to update and click MANAGE DNS next to the domain name.
This opens the DNS Zone Editor for that domain. The DNS Zone Editor is where you can view, add, edit, or remove supported DNS records for domains using PhotoBiz AWS Route 53 name servers.
Click the NEW DNS RECORD button.
This opens the form where you can add a new DNS record to your domain.
Select TXT as the record type.
In the Host field, leave the field blank unless the third-party service gives you a specific host name or subdomain to enter. In the PhotoBiz control panel, your main domain is already loaded for the DNS record, so you do not need to enter @ for the root domain.
In the Value field, paste the TXT value provided by the third-party service. Make sure the value is copied exactly as provided. Extra spaces, missing characters, or changed punctuation can prevent the verification from working.
Review the TXT record details and save your new DNS record.
After the record is saved, the TXT record will be added to your domain’s DNS zone. Most DNS updates begin working within a few minutes, but full DNS propagation across the internet can take up to 48 hours.
Once the record has had time to update, return to the third-party service and complete the verification process. If the service does not verify the domain right away, wait and try again later.
Some services provide specific instructions for the TXT record host or name field. Always follow the instructions from the service you are verifying.
Common host values may include:
Common TXT record uses include:
If you are adding records for email authentication, the third-party provider may ask you to add more than one DNS record. Add each required record exactly as provided.
Why do I not see the MANAGE DNS option?
The MANAGE DNS option is only available if your domain is using PhotoBiz AWS Route 53 name servers. If your domain is using PhotoBiz legacy Rackspace name servers, you will need to upgrade to AWS Route 53 before you can manage DNS records inside your account.
If your domain is using third-party name servers, your DNS records are managed through that third-party provider instead.
What should I enter in the Host field?
Enter the host value provided by the service you are verifying. If the service tells you to use your root domain, enter @. If the service provides a specific subdomain or host, enter that value instead.
What should I enter in the Value field?
Paste the TXT record value provided by the third-party service. Do not rewrite, shorten, or change the value. TXT records must match the provider’s instructions exactly.
How long does TXT record verification take?
Most DNS updates begin working within a few minutes. However, full DNS propagation can take up to 48 hours. If the third-party service does not verify the domain right away, wait and try again later.
Can PhotoBiz add the TXT record for me?
Yes. If you would like PhotoBiz to add the TXT record for you, please submit a support ticket with the DNS record information that needs to be added.
Include the full instructions from the third-party service, including the record type, host, and value. This helps the PhotoBiz Support Team add the TXT record accurately.
