How to Add and Customize an HTML Block in Your PhotoBiz Website Footer

Overview

The PhotoBiz Footer HTML Block allows you to add custom HTML, scripts, and third-party embed codes to your website footer. You can use it to display external widgets, custom formatting, and other content that requires HTML code.

You do not need to know how to write HTML to use this block. Many third-party services provide embed codes that you can copy and paste directly into the HTML Block.

This guide explains how to add an HTML Block to your footer, insert your code, customize its appearance, manage its settings, and delete the block when it is no longer needed.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, have the complete HTML, script, or embed code you want to add to your footer.

Only use code from a source you trust. Custom and third-party code can affect how your website displays and functions.

STEP ONE

Log in to your PhotoBiz account and click WEBSITE in the left-side menu.

This opens the Website Builder, where you can manage your website pages, footer, and content blocks.

STEP TWO

Click FOOTER at the bottom of your list of website pages.

This opens the Footer editor, where you can add, customize, and rearrange the blocks displayed in your website footer.

STEP THREE

Locate the HTML Block in the available blocks menu on the right side of the Website Builder.

You can add the HTML Block to your footer in two ways.

Click the HTML icon to add the block to the bottom of your footer.

Alternatively, click and hold the HTML icon, then drag it into your preferred position. Release the block when the teal placement line appears where you want it displayed.

You can also drag an existing HTML Block up or down to reposition it within your footer.

STEP FOUR

After adding the HTML Block to your footer, you can open its editing settings in either of the following ways:

  • Click the Click To Add Code area in the center of the HTML Block.

  • Click the pencil icon in the upper-right corner of the block, then click ADVANCED.

Both options open the HTML Block editor, where you can enter your HTML or third-party embed code and customize the block's settings.

FINAL STEP

Paste your complete code into the HTML CODE field.

Make sure you have copied the entire code provided by your third-party service or developer. Missing or incomplete code may prevent the embedded content from displaying or functioning correctly.

Click SAVE CHANGES to apply your code.

Your HTML Block is now saved to your website footer. Changes take effect automatically, so you do not need to publish your website separately.

Open your public website to confirm that the embedded content displays correctly. Test any links, buttons, forms, or interactive features included in the code.

Review your footer on both desktop and mobile devices to make sure the content displays as expected.

HTML Block Advanced Settings

The HTML Block includes additional settings that allow you to customize its appearance.

Click inside your HTML Block or click the pencil icon and select ADVANCED to access the following sections:

  • HTML: Add, replace, or edit your HTML, script, or third-party embed code.

  • STYLING: Adjust the available Flushing setting.

  • COLORS: Customize the background color of your HTML Block.

  • BACKGROUND: Upload a custom background image or choose an image from the PhotoBiz Background Library.

You do not need to customize these settings for your HTML code to work.

Styling Options

Click STYLING in the HTML Block editor to access the FLUSHING setting.

Flushing controls how the HTML Block fits within the available space in your website footer.

You can choose from two options:

  • ON: Allows the HTML Block to extend across the full width of the available footer area.

  • OFF: Keeps the HTML Block within the standard content width of your website's layout.

FLUSHING is enabled by default.

Click SAVE CHANGES to apply your selection.

Helpful Note: Flushing controls the width of the HTML Block's container. It does not automatically resize the HTML or third-party content inside the block. If your embedded content has its own width or formatting settings, you may need to adjust those separately.

Color Options

Click COLORS in the HTML Block editor to customize the background color of your Footer HTML Block.

The following setting is available:

  • BACKGROUND COLOR: Controls the background color displayed behind your HTML content.

Click the color square to choose a color or enter a HEX color code to match your website's design.

The color you select overrides the corresponding global background color setting under DESIGN for this block.

Click SAVE CHANGES to apply your new background color.

Helpful Note: Changing the HTML Block's background color does not automatically change the colors, fonts, or other styling defined within your custom HTML or third-party embed code. Those elements may need to be adjusted within the code or through the third-party service.

Background Options

Click BACKGROUND in the HTML Block editor to customize the background image displayed behind your HTML content.

Under BACKGROUND IMAGE, you can select one of three options:

  • No Background: Displays the HTML Block without a background image.

  • Custom Background: Allows you to upload your own background image.

  • Background Library: Allows you to choose from PhotoBiz's collection of background images.

Uploading a Custom Background

Select Custom Background to upload your own image.

Click ADD FILES to choose an image from your computer, or drag and drop your image into the upload area.

Custom background images must be in JPG or PNG format, with maximum dimensions of 3000 pixels wide by 1730 pixels high.

Background Settings

When you use a custom background or select an image from the Background Library, you can control how the image displays using the following options:

  • Tile: Repeats the image to fill the background.

  • Top Left: Aligns the image to the upper-left corner of the block.

  • Centered: Centers the image within the available background area.

  • Cover: Scales the image to cover the entire background area. Depending on the image dimensions, portions may be cropped.

Click SAVE CHANGES to apply your background settings.

Helpful Note: Background images display behind your HTML content. They do not replace or modify images, colors, or formatting defined within your custom HTML or third-party embed code.

For more information, see How to Change a Block Background in PhotoBiz.

Manage Block Settings

You can manage your Footer HTML Block using the pencil icon in the upper-right corner of the block.

Click the pencil icon to open the management menu, which includes the following options:

  • COPY: Creates a duplicate of the HTML Block in your website footer, including its existing HTML code and customization settings.

  • ADVANCED: Opens the HTML Block editor, where you can update your HTML code, styling, colors, and background.

  • DELETE: Opens the confirmation window to permanently remove the HTML Block from your footer.

Rearranging Your Footer HTML Block

To change the position of your HTML Block, click and hold the drag handle on the left side of the block, then drag it up or down within your footer.

Release the block in your preferred location to reposition it.

Helpful Note: If you copy an HTML Block containing third-party embed code, review the duplicated content to make sure the third-party service supports displaying the same widget or script multiple times.

Deleting an HTML Block From Your Footer

If you no longer need an HTML Block in your website footer, you can permanently delete it.

Click the pencil icon in the upper-right corner of the HTML Block, then click DELETE.

The DELETE BLOCK confirmation panel will open with the following warning:

ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO DELETE THIS BLOCK?

"This action cannot be undone. The block and all content within it will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered."

You have two options:

  • YES, DELETE IT: Permanently deletes the HTML Block, including its HTML code and customization settings.

  • CANCEL: Closes the confirmation panel without deleting the block.

Important: Deleting an HTML Block is permanent and cannot be undone. If you may need the HTML or embed code again, save a separate copy before deleting the block.

Deleting the block removes the embedded content from your website footer, but it does not cancel or delete any associated third-party account or service.

If you only need to change the HTML code, open the existing block and edit its contents instead of deleting it.

What Your Website Visitors See

Content added to a Footer HTML Block appears in the footer of your website wherever the footer is enabled.

Depending on the code you insert, visitors may see an embedded widget, custom text, an external tool, or other interactive content.

If your HTML code includes links, buttons, forms, or interactive features, visitors may be able to use those features directly from your website footer.

The footer can appear across multiple pages of your website, so changes to your Footer HTML Block may affect the visitor experience throughout your site.

If the footer is disabled in an individual page's settings, the HTML Block will not display on that page.

The appearance and functionality of third-party content depend on the code provided by the external service. Some widgets may also require an active third-party account or additional configuration before they work correctly.

Helpful Notes

  • Use the appropriate block: For awards, certifications, memberships, and similar graphics, use the Footer Badges Block.

  • Use the regular HTML Block for page-specific content: If you want to display custom HTML on a particular website page instead of your footer, see How to Use the HTML Block on Your PhotoBiz Website.

  • Check mobile compatibility: Some third-party widgets use fixed dimensions and may not adjust automatically to smaller screens.

  • Use trusted code: Avoid adding scripts from unfamiliar or unverified sources.

  • Protect sensitive information: Never include passwords, private API keys, or other confidential information in HTML code displayed on your public website.

  • Test after making changes: Custom code can affect website appearance, performance, and the Website Builder. Review your website after adding or updating an HTML Block.

Troubleshooting and FAQs

Why isn't my HTML content displaying in the footer?

Open the HTML Block and confirm that you entered the complete code in the HTML CODE field and clicked SAVE CHANGES.

Check whether the third-party service is active and whether its code requires additional setup or domain verification.

You can also test your website in another browser to determine whether a browser extension or other browser setting is interfering with the content.

If the code still does not work, contact the third-party provider or your web developer.

Why does my embedded content look different on mobile devices?

The appearance of embedded content depends on how its HTML, CSS, or JavaScript was designed.

Some third-party widgets include fixed widths or other formatting that may not adjust automatically to smaller screens.

Contact the code provider or your web developer if the content appears too wide, is cut off, or does not function correctly on mobile devices.

Why doesn't changing the background color change my embedded content?

The COLORS setting controls the background color of the HTML Block.

It does not override colors, fonts, or formatting defined within the HTML or third-party embed code.

To change those elements, you may need to adjust the settings provided by the third-party service or modify the custom code.

What should I do if my website or Website Builder has problems after adding code?

Return to the HTML Block, remove the recently added code, and click SAVE CHANGES.

Check your website and Website Builder again to determine whether removing the code resolves the problem.

If you cannot access the HTML Block or the Website Builder, contact PhotoBiz Support for assistance removing the code.

PhotoBiz Support cannot troubleshoot or repair the custom code itself.

Can I use HTML code generated by ChatGPT or another AI tool?

Yes. You can insert AI-generated HTML, CSS, or JavaScript into an HTML Block.

However, AI-generated code may contain errors or depend on third-party resources. Test it carefully before relying on it on your public website.

PhotoBiz Support can help you insert or remove the code but cannot create, debug, or rewrite AI-generated code.

Can PhotoBiz Support help me with third-party HTML code?

PhotoBiz Support can help you locate an HTML Block, add the block to your footer, and insert or remove code you already have.

PhotoBiz Support cannot create, modify, debug, or troubleshoot custom HTML, JavaScript, AI-generated code, or code provided by third-party services.

For assistance with the functionality of third-party code, contact the service provider or your web developer.
