Overview
You can edit an existing PhotoBiz product at any time to update its name, description, price, sales tax settings, shipping settings, availability, and other product details.
Changes you make to a product are applied anywhere that product is currently used, including Products Blocks on your website and Client Galleries where the product has been added to a price list.
This guide walks you through finding an existing product, updating its information, and saving your changes.
Before you begin, make sure you have an existing product in your PhotoBiz ECommerce Dashboard.
If you need to create a new product instead, see How to Set Up a Product for Sale in PhotoBiz ECommerce.
Log into your PhotoBiz account and click ECOMMERCE in the left-side menu.
This opens your ECommerce Dashboard, where you can manage products, orders, payment settings, sales tax, shipping, and other selling tools.
Hover over SELL ONLINE at the top of the ECommerce Dashboard, then click PRODUCTS.
This opens your product list. If you have multiple products or product categories, you can use the search bar to locate the product you want to update.
Click the Product Name you want to edit. You can also use the search bar to find a product by name if you have many categories or pages of products.
This opens the product editor, where you can review and update the settings for that product.
Update the product information you want to change, then click SAVE CHANGES at the bottom of the product editor.
You can update the product's name, description, price, tax and shipping settings, minimum or maximum image requirements, and active status.
Your changes are saved immediately. There is no separate publish button.
The main product settings control how your product is presented, priced, and sold.
Depending on the product, you can update:
Minimum and maximum photo settings apply to products used with Client Galleries.
The product editor also includes additional areas for configuring how the product looks and works.
Depending on your product, you can manage:
For more detailed instructions, see the related PhotoBiz guides for product images, product options and sub-options, digital product downloads, stock tracking, product meta data, and product tags.
A product is managed from the ECommerce Dashboard even when it appears somewhere else in your PhotoBiz account.
If you edit an existing product, the updated information is reflected anywhere that same product is being used. For example, changing a product's name, description, or price updates that product wherever it appears through a Products Block or an applicable Client Galleries price list.
You do not need to edit the Products Block itself just to change the underlying product information.
If you need to offer substantially different versions of the same item with different pricing, descriptions, or fulfillment settings, consider creating separate products instead of changing a product that is already being used elsewhere.
Why isn't my updated product information showing?
First, confirm that you clicked SAVE CHANGES after making your edits.
If the product should appear on your website, make sure the product is Active and included in the appropriate Products Block.
If you are using the product in Client Galleries, make sure it is included in the applicable price list.
Can I change the price of an existing product?
Yes. Open the product, update the Price field, and click SAVE CHANGES. The new price is applied wherever that product is currently available for purchase.
Can I change a product's name or description?
Yes. You can update both the Product Name and Description from the main product settings and click SAVE CHANGES when you are finished.
Can I edit a product after customers have already purchased it?
Yes. Editing the product updates the product for future use. Before making significant changes to an existing product, consider whether the same product is being used on your website or in multiple Client Galleries price lists.
Why isn't my product available for sale?
Make sure the product is set to Active. You should also confirm that it has been added to the appropriate Products Block or Client Galleries price list.
