How to Transfer Your Domain to PhotoBiz

Overview

If you already own a domain through another registrar, you may be able to transfer the domain registration to PhotoBiz. Transferring your domain allows you to manage your website and supported domain registration billing from one place.

This guide explains which domain extensions PhotoBiz can transfer, what you need before starting, how much the transfer costs, and how to begin the transfer process with the PhotoBiz Support Team.

By the end of this article, you will know whether your domain is eligible to transfer and how to prepare it for a smooth transfer.

Supported Domain Extensions

PhotoBiz can only transfer the following domain extensions:

  • .COM
  • .NET
  • .INFO
  • .BIZ
  • .ORG

If your domain uses any other extension, PhotoBiz cannot transfer the domain registration. You can still use your domain with your PhotoBiz website by keeping it registered with your current domain provider and connecting it to your PhotoBiz account.

Transfer vs. Connect

Transferring and connecting a domain are different options.

When you transfer your domain, the domain registration moves from your current registrar to PhotoBiz. After the transfer is complete, your supported domain renewal billing is managed through PhotoBiz.

When you connect your domain, the domain stays registered with your current registrar. You update the domain settings so it points to your PhotoBiz website, but the registration and renewal billing remain with your current domain provider.

If your domain extension is not .COM, .NET, .INFO, .BIZ, or .ORG, connecting the domain is the option you will need to use.

Prerequisites

Before PhotoBiz can begin your domain transfer, you must complete a few steps with your current domain registrar.

You will need to:

  • Make sure your domain uses a supported extension
  • Unlock your domain
  • Turn off domain privacy settings
  • Disable DNSSEC
  • Get your authorization code, also called an EPP code
  • Make sure your domain is not within 15 days of expiration
  • Confirm the domain was not newly registered or transferred within the last 60 days
  • Confirm the registrant name, company, or email address has not been updated within the last 60 days

WHAT YOU’LL NEED BEFORE YOU START

To begin the transfer, you’ll need to complete a few steps with your current domain registrar:

  1. Unlock Your Domain
    Make sure your domain is unlocked at your current registrar.

  2. Turn Off Privacy Settings
    Disable any domain privacy protections, including DNSSEC.

  3. Get Your Authorization Code (EPP Code)
    This code is required to start the transfer.

COST TO TRANSFER

  • One-time Transfer Fee: $25.00 and

  • Domain Renewal: $3.50/month (billed monthly) or $42/year (billed annually)

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

  • No Recent Changes: If you’ve updated the registrant name, company, or email—or recently transferred the domain from another registrar—you’ll need to wait 60 days before you can transfer again.

  • DNSSEC Must Be Disabled: Check your domain settings to make sure DNSSEC is turned off.

  • Timing Matters: Avoid transferring a domain that’s set to expire within the next 15 days.

  • Don’t Change Settings During the Transfer: Any updates to your domain’s contact details or configuration after starting the transfer can delay or block the process.
