Overview
Setting up sales tax in PhotoBiz allows you to automatically collect the correct tax on purchases made through your website. This includes orders from ECommerce, Client Galleries, Forms, Scheduler, and Invoices.
This guide walks you through how to create a tax line and apply it based on your client’s location. By the end, your account will automatically calculate and apply sales tax during checkout.
PhotoBiz Support cannot provide tax rate recommendations. Please consult a local tax expert to ensure you’re charging the correct rate for your city, county, state/province, and country.
Log in to your PhotoBiz account and click on ECOMMERCE in the left-hand menu.
At the top of the ECommerce control panel, hover over PAYMENTS and click TAXES from the dropdown menu.
Click the NEW TAX LINE button.
Enter your sales tax settings in the fields provided.
Start by adding a Description. This is the name your customers will see during checkout, such as “North Carolina Sales Tax.”
Next, enter your Sales Tax Rate as a percentage. For example, enter 7.25 for a 7.25% tax rate.
Choose the Country where this tax applies. Only customers located in this country will be charged this tax.
Select a State/Province. You can choose ALL to apply the tax across the entire country, or select a specific state or province to limit where the tax applies.
If needed, enter a County to further refine the tax location. This is optional but useful if your tax rate varies by county. If you charge different county rates, you will need to create separate tax lines for each county.
Choose whether to Apply in addition to any applicable tax. Select Yes if this tax should stack on top of other taxes, such as combining state and county rates.
Decide whether to Apply Sales Tax to Shipping. Select Yes if your local tax laws require shipping charges to be taxed.
Once all fields are complete, click ADD TAX LINE to save your settings.
Your sales tax is now active. When a client completes a purchase, PhotoBiz will automatically apply the correct tax based on the location settings you configured.
You can repeat this process to create additional tax lines for different states, provinces, or counties as needed.
