How to Change or Preview Your Website Template in PhotoBiz

Overview

You can change your PhotoBiz website template at any time at no additional cost. You can also preview a different template with your existing website content before applying it to your live website. Templates control your website’s overall design framework, including menu placement, logo placement, social icon placement, site width, and general layout structure. This guide explains how to browse templates, choose design settings, preview your website, and apply a new template.

What Changing a Template Affects

Your template controls website-wide design elements, which may include:

  • Menu style and placement
  • Logo and social icon placement
  • Full-width or boxed site layout
  • Header and footer layout options
  • Overall design structure

Changing your template preserves your existing pages, page layouts, blocks, block order, text, images, and uploaded files. Your content may look different within the new design framework, but switching templates does not rebuild your pages.

You can continue customizing your pages, blocks, fonts, colors, backgrounds, and other design settings after changing templates.

Template Samples vs. Your Website Preview

Browse PhotoBiz template samples to compare designs before adding a template to your account.

A template sample shows a demonstration website with sample pages, images, text, and page layouts. A template preview shows your existing website content within the selected template.

Adding a template does not import the sample website’s pages, images, text, or blocks. If the sample uses page layouts or content sections that your website does not have, those sections will not appear in your preview.

To create an individual page with a new layout, see How to Use PhotoBiz AI Page Creator to Add New Pages to Your Website.

Previewing vs. Applying a Template

Previewing a template lets you see how your website would look with a different template using your existing content. Previewing does not change your live website.

Applying a template makes it active on your live website. In this workflow, clicking SAVE applies the selected template and design settings to your website.

Design Setting Options

When you add a new template, you can choose how to handle your design settings, including colors, fonts, styling, and graphics.

  • KEEP MY CURRENT SETTINGS: Retains your existing fonts, colors, styling, backgrounds, and other design choices.
  • USE NEW TEMPLATE SETTINGS: Uses the new template’s default design settings.

Choose KEEP MY CURRENT SETTINGS to keep your current brand styling within a different template. Choose USE NEW TEMPLATE SETTINGS to bring your website’s styling closer to the template sample. Neither option imports the sample pages or content.

STEP ONE

Log in to your PhotoBiz account and click WEBSITE in the left-side menu.

STEP TWO

Click DESIGN at the top of the Website Builder control panel.

STEP THREE

Your current template appears in the upper-right corner of the Design section. Click CHANGE TEMPLATE to open the template area.

Opening this section does not change your live website. You can browse, add, and preview templates before applying one.

STEP FOUR

Under MY TEMPLATES, click ADD NEW TEMPLATES on the right side of the screen to open the template catalog.

All available templates are included with your PhotoBiz membership at no additional cost. If the template you want to preview is already saved under MY TEMPLATES, skip to STEP SEVEN.

STEP FIVE

Browse the available templates. Newer templates appear first.

Click SAMPLE to open a template’s demonstration website. Review the sample on desktop and mobile to compare its navigation, logo placement, site width, and overall design.

When you find a template you want to preview with your own website content, click ADD.

STEP SIX

Choose how you want the template to handle your design settings.

Select KEEP MY CURRENT SETTINGS to retain your existing fonts, colors, styling, backgrounds, and other design choices. This option is useful when you want to keep your current brand styling within a different template.

Select USE NEW TEMPLATE SETTINGS to use the new template’s default design settings. This option brings your website’s styling closer to the sample’s appearance, but it does not add the sample pages or content.

After you make your selection, the template is added to your account so you can preview it before applying it.

STEP SEVEN

Under MY TEMPLATES, locate the template you want to review and click PREVIEW.

The preview displays your existing website content within that template. Your live website remains unchanged.

Review your home page and other important pages on desktop and mobile. Check the navigation, logo placement, text readability, images, buttons, and footer before deciding whether to apply the template.

FINAL STEP

When you are ready to apply the template, click SAVE for the selected template.

Your live website now uses that template and the design settings you selected. Your changes take effect when saved, so no separate publishing step is needed.

Open your website and review the updated design on desktop and mobile to confirm it looks the way you intended.

What Your Clients See

While you browse templates, add them to your account, or use PREVIEW, visitors continue to see your current live website.

After you click SAVE to apply a template, visitors see the new design framework and selected design settings. Your existing pages, page layouts, and content remain in place.

Rename or Delete Saved Templates

You can manage saved templates under MY TEMPLATES.

Hover over a saved template to reveal its management options. Click the pencil icon to rename it or the trash icon to delete it from your saved templates.

The template currently in use is labeled CURRENT TEMPLATE. You cannot delete that template.

Customize Your New Template

After applying a template, you can continue adjusting your website to fit your brand. Review your fonts, colors, backgrounds, block styling, animations, and header or footer settings.

If you also want to change your page layouts, you can edit your existing blocks or use the PhotoBiz AI Page Creator to add new pages. Changing the template itself does not change those layouts.

Using the PhotoBiz AI Page Creator

Changing your template updates the overall design framework of your website. It does not replace your current pages with the sample pages shown in a template demo.

If you want to create a new page layout without changing your entire website template, use the PhotoBiz AI Page Creator. The PhotoBiz AI Page Creator helps you add a new page layout to your Website Builder, then customize the text, images, buttons, and blocks for your business.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Will changing my template delete my website content?

No. Your existing pages, page layouts, blocks, block order, text, images, and uploaded files remain in your account.

Why does my preview look different from the template sample?

Your preview uses your existing pages and content. The sample may use different images, text, blocks, and page layouts. Choosing USE NEW TEMPLATE SETTINGS applies the template’s default design settings, but it does not copy the sample website.

Can I test more than one template?

Yes. You can add and preview different templates. Adding or previewing a template does not change your live website. Click SAVE only when you are ready to apply one.

What if I only want to change my home page?

Use the PhotoBiz AI Page Creator to create a new home page layout, or edit your existing home page blocks. You can keep your current website template.
