How To Tell If I'm Using Original Files

What Is the Original Files Upgrade?

Overview

The standard PhotoBiz Website Package allows you to upload image, document, and video files up to 4MB each. The Original Files Upgrade increases the maximum upload size to 50MB per file and stores the original-resolution version of qualifying images.

You can use original files for digital image delivery, larger media uploads, and additional protection against data loss if a local hard drive or storage device fails. This guide explains how original files are stored, how to identify them in your account, and what happens if you cancel the upgrade.

When to Use the Original Files Upgrade

The Original Files Upgrade may be helpful when you need to:

  • Sell or deliver original-resolution digital image files
  • Allow clients to download full-resolution images
  • Upload image files larger than 4MB
  • Upload larger document or video files
  • Keep an additional copy of high-resolution image files in your PhotoBiz account

Each uploaded file can be up to 50MB while the upgrade is active.

STEP ONE

Log in to your PhotoBiz account and upload your images while the Original Files Upgrade is active.

PhotoBiz will store the original-resolution version of each qualifying image, provided the uploaded file is no larger than 50MB. The original version can then be used for digital sales, client downloads, or additional file storage.

Keeping a copy in your PhotoBiz account can help safeguard your images if a local hard drive or storage device fails. For the strongest protection, keep important files in more than one location.

STEP TWO

Open the area of your PhotoBiz control panel where the uploaded images are stored.

Look for the OR indicator in the top-right corner of an image thumbnail. This indicator confirms that PhotoBiz has stored an original-resolution version of the image.

Images uploaded before the Original Files Upgrade was active will not display the OR indicator. Activating the upgrade does not automatically restore or add original versions of previously uploaded images. You must upload the original image again while the upgrade is active to store its original-resolution version.

STEP THREE

Click FILES in your PhotoBiz control panel to review uploaded documents, videos, and other supported file types.

The Files area displays the size of each uploaded file. The standard PhotoBiz Website Package supports files up to 4MB each. With the Original Files Upgrade active, you can upload supported files larger than 4MB, up to the 50MB maximum.

For example, a 6.5MB document or a 7.5MB video requires the Original Files Upgrade because each file exceeds the standard 4MB upload limit.

Documents Original File Size

This file is 6.5mb, which is larger than the standard 4mb file size.

Video Original File Size

This file is 7.5mb, which is larger than the standard 4mb file size.

STEP FOUR

Click MY ACCOUNT in your PhotoBiz control panel to confirm that the Original Files Upgrade is active.

The upgrade will appear with your active account products and services. The cost is $10 per month or $120 per year, based on your account’s billing cycle.

An active subscription is required to continue uploading files larger than 4MB and storing original-resolution image versions.

FINAL STEP

Review your original files before canceling the Original Files Upgrade.

Once the cancellation takes effect, all stored original-resolution image versions and other files that depend on the upgrade will be permanently deleted. These files cannot be recovered by PhotoBiz or restored automatically if you purchase the upgrade again later.

The optimized image versions used to display images on your website will remain in your account. Download or back up any original files you need before the upgrade ends.

  • Original files can provide additional protection if a computer or local hard drive fails.
  • You must maintain the upgrade to keep original files stored in your PhotoBiz account.
