How to Customize Colors in Individual Blocks on Your PhotoBiz Website

Overview

Individual block color settings let you customize a specific section of your PhotoBiz website without changing the colors used throughout the rest of your site. Depending on the block type and selected layout, you can adjust colors for text, buttons, backgrounds, overlays, and other design elements.

Custom colors applied within a block override the corresponding global website colors for that block. This guide explains how to change block colors, save your updates, and reset customized colors to your global settings.

Note: The screenshots in this guide show an Images Block, but the steps apply to all blocks in the Website Builder. The options in the right-side menu and under COLORS vary depending on the block type and selected layout.

STEP ONE

Log in to your PhotoBiz account and click WEBSITE in the left-side menu. This opens the Website Builder.

STEP TWO

Click the name of the page that contains the block you want to customize.

The page will open in the Website Builder so you can edit its blocks and settings.

STEP THREE

Click on the content in block you want to customize. You can also click on the pencil icon on the upper right corner of the block and then click on the advanced option in the menu that opens.

The settings for that block will open in the right-side panel.

STEP FOUR

Click the COLORS icon in the right-side block settings.

The available color settings depend on the block type, selected layout, and content included in the block.

STEP FIVE

Find the color setting you want to change and click its color swatch to open the color picker.

Use the color picker to select a color, or enter a six-digit hexadecimal (HEX) color code in the HEX field. A HEX code identifies an exact color, which is useful when matching your logo or brand colors.

You can also select a color from YOUR ACCENT COLORS or RECENTLY USED.

Click OK to confirm your selection and return to the block’s COLORS settings.

Repeat this process for any additional color settings you want to update in the side panel. Click OK after each color selection.

FINAL STEP

After adjusting all the colors you want to change, click SAVE CHANGES.

Your saved colors automatically apply to that block on your website. There is no separate publish button.

Review the updated section on desktop and mobile screen sizes. Make sure text, links, and buttons remain easy to see against their backgrounds. If your layout includes hover effects, move your pointer over the affected elements to check their appearance.

Understanding Block Color Options

The options under COLORS vary by block and layout. You may see settings for:

  • Text and titles: Control the colors of headings, descriptions, and other supported text.

  • Buttons: Control available button text, background, border, contrast, or overlay colors.

  • Backgrounds: Control the background color behind the block’s content.

  • Overlays: Control colors displayed over images in supported layouts.

  • Borders, icons, and lines: Control these design elements when they are included in the selected layout.

You may not see every option listed above. Use the settings available in your selected block.

How Individual Block Colors Work With Global Colors

Your global color settings under DESIGN establish the default color scheme used throughout your PhotoBiz website.

When you customize a color within an individual block, that setting applies to the corresponding element in that block instead of the global color.

For example, if your global button background is black but you customize a Button Block’s background to gold, the button in that block will display gold.

Other blocks continue to use their global colors or their own custom settings. You can customize one color within a block while allowing its other colors to continue following your global design.

For help changing your website’s default color scheme, see How to Customize Your Website Colors in PhotoBiz.

Reset a Customized Color

A CUSTOMIZED label identifies a color setting that overrides your global website design.

To restore the corresponding global color, open the block’s COLORS settings and click the X next to the CUSTOMIZED label for that setting. Click SAVE CHANGES to apply the reset.

Each color setting can be reset independently. For example, you can restore the global text color while keeping a customized background color.

Resetting a block color does not change your global website colors or the colors used in other blocks.

Colors in Predesigned Blocks

Predesigned blocks include custom styling that matches their preview. This can include colors that differ from your website’s global color settings.

If you want a predesigned block to use your global colors, review its COLORS settings and remove the applicable CUSTOMIZED settings. Save your changes when you are finished.

You can also keep some of the predesigned colors and customize or reset others.

Troubleshooting and FAQs

Why do different blocks show different color options?

The available settings depend on the block type, selected layout, and content supported by that block. A layout with buttons or image overlays may include color controls that another layout does not need.

Why did a block keep its old colors after I changed my global website colors?

The block may have customized colors that override your global settings. Open the block’s COLORS settings and check for CUSTOMIZED labels. Reset the applicable settings if you want those elements to follow your global colors.

Can I change one block without changing the rest of my website?

Yes. Colors saved within an individual block apply to that block. Your global website colors and other blocks are not changed.

Why is my text difficult to read after changing colors?

The text and its background may be too similar. Choose colors with a clearer difference between light and dark. For text displayed over an image, review it against both the lightest and darkest areas behind it.

How do I add a background image instead of a solid color?

Background images are managed separately under BACKGROUND. For instructions, see How to Change a Block Background in PhotoBiz.
