What’s the Difference Between Coupons and Sales Campaigns in PhotoBiz?

PhotoBiz offers two ways to run discounts and promotions: Coupons and Sales Campaigns. While both reduce prices for your clients, they work differently and are used in different situations. Understanding the difference helps you choose the right option for your business and avoid confusion at checkout. This guide explains how each option works and when to use one over the other.

Coupons vs. Sales Campaigns: Key Differences

Coupons

Coupons require the client to enter a code at checkout to receive a discount. They are ideal for targeted promotions or limited offers.

Coupons can be used for:

  • Products

  • Services

  • Scheduler

  • Packages

  • Prints

  • Digital Images

Important notes about coupons:

  • Only one coupon code can be used per order

  • Coupons can be limited by:

    • Expiration date

    • Number of uses

    • Specific items or item groups

    • Minimum or maximum order totals

  • Coupons do not work with:

    • Invoices

    • Form Payments

Common uses for coupons:

  • Client-specific discounts

  • Free image download offers

  • Referral or loyalty rewards

  • Single-use promotions

Sales Campaigns

Sales Campaigns automatically apply discounts without requiring a coupon code. Clients see sale pricing immediately when browsing your store or Client Galleries.

Campaigns can be applied to:

  • Products

  • Services

  • Scheduler

  • Packages

  • Prints and Digital Images

Important notes about campaigns:

  • Discounts apply automatically to eligible items

  • Sale pricing is visible before checkout

  • Campaigns can apply to:

    • All items

    • Specific categories

    • Selected individual items

  • Campaigns are ideal for store-wide or time-based sales

Common uses for campaigns:

  • Holiday sales

  • Seasonal promotions

  • Limited-time gallery discounts

  • Store-wide percentage-off sales

Choosing the Right Option

Use Coupons if you want:

  • Clients to enter a discount code

  • To limit usage to specific clients

  • A single-use or controlled promotion

  • A free item or image offer

Use Sales Campaigns if you want:

  • Discounts applied automatically

  • Sale prices visible upfront

  • A broad promotion with no checkout steps

  • A clean, friction-free shopping experience

Using Coupons and Campaigns Together

PhotoBiz allows you to control whether coupons can be used in addition to sale campaigns. This setting is managed in your Campaign preferences. You can choose to:

  • Prevent coupon stacking with sales

  • Allow coupons on top of sale pricing

  • Decide whether the highest or lowest discount applies when multiple campaigns overlap
