Overview
If your domain name expires, visitors may be unable to reach your website, even when your PhotoBiz account is active. Domain registration and your PhotoBiz Website Package are separate services, so paying for your PhotoBiz account does not renew a domain registered elsewhere. This guide explains how to identify your domain provider, renew your registration, and troubleshoot your connection afterward. An expired third-party domain does not itself delete your PhotoBiz website content.
Does PhotoBiz manage your domain registration? Contact PhotoBiz Support for help checking its status and renewal options. The instructions below apply to domains registered through another provider.
Find Your Domain Provider
Identify the company where you purchased your domain name. This company manages your registration and renewal payments. Check previous domain purchase receipts or renewal emails if you are unsure.
You can also search your domain using the free ICANN Registration Data Lookup Tool. Review the registrar information in the results. The listed registrar may differ from the company that sold you the domain, especially if you purchased through a reseller.
If the results list Tucows, use the Tucows Provider Search to identify the company to contact about renewing your domain.
Sign In and Check Your Domain Status
Sign in to your domain provider’s website and locate your domain registration. Check its status, expiration date, and any unpaid renewal notices. Confirm that you are reviewing the domain registration rather than a separate website, hosting, or email subscription.
If you cannot sign in, use your provider’s account recovery options or contact its support team. PhotoBiz cannot reset another provider’s login or complete its account verification process for you.
If your domain is active and has not expired, contact PhotoBiz Support for help identifying another cause of the outage.
Renew Your Expired Domain
Follow your provider’s instructions to renew the domain and complete payment. You can find provider resources in the Domain Provider Renewal Resources section below.
If renewal is unavailable, the domain is missing from your account, or you see a redemption notice, contact your provider promptly. A redemption period is a limited recovery stage that may require an additional fee. Recovery options depend on the domain extension and how long it has been expired. Not every expired domain can be recovered.
Updating your payment method or enabling automatic renewal may not complete an overdue renewal. Confirm that the renewal payment succeeds and your provider shows the registration as renewed.
Check Your Website After Renewal
Ask your provider when it expects the domain to become active again, then visit your website using your domain name. Restoration may take time after payment, so your website may not return immediately.
Once your domain is active and correctly connected to your active PhotoBiz website, visitors can access your website again. You do not need to rebuild your website because the domain expired.
If your domain provider confirms that restoration is complete but your website remains unavailable, follow the troubleshooting section below.
Confirm that the domain renewal is complete. Ask your provider to verify that payment was applied to the domain registration and that no expiration-related hold remains.
Check whether your domain settings changed. Ask whether the provider replaced your name servers or website connection settings during expiration. Name servers determine where your domain’s connection records are managed.
If your domain uses PhotoBiz name servers, follow How to Find Your Name Servers in PhotoBiz to locate the values assigned to your domain. Each domain has its own set, so copy the exact values shown for that domain.
Contact PhotoBiz Support before changing settings if you are unsure. Some websites connect through records managed by another DNS provider. Changing name servers without checking the setup can interrupt email or other connected services.
When contacting PhotoBiz, provide your domain name, when you renewed it, and any confirmation or error message from your provider.
Use your provider’s renewal guide or support resource below. If your provider is not listed, contact it directly.
