How to Share a Blog Post on Your Google Business Profile

Overview

Sharing your PhotoBiz blog posts on your Google Business Profile is a simple way to help more people find your content from Google Search and Maps. You can use a Google Business Profile update to highlight a recent blog post, feature a session, promote helpful tips, or share news from your photography business.

This guide walks you through how to create a Google Business Profile update and link it back to a blog post on your PhotoBiz website. By the end, your blog post will be shared as an update on your Google Business Profile with a button visitors can click to read the full post.

PhotoBiz is not affiliated with Google. Our Support Team can help you locate and copy your PhotoBiz blog post link, but questions about Google Business Profile tools, approvals, or visibility should be directed to Google Support.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • A published blog post on your PhotoBiz website
  • Access to the Google Account that manages your Google Business Profile
  • A verified Google Business Profile
  • An image or video you want to use with your update

STEP ONE

Log in to your PhotoBiz account and open the published blog post you want to share.

Copy the full URL for the blog post from your browser’s address bar. This is the link you will add to your Google Business Profile update so visitors can click through to read the full post on your website.

STEP TWO

Go to https://business.google.com and log in with the Google Account that manages your Google Business Profile.

Once you are logged in, open the Business Profile you want to update. Depending on your Google account and profile settings, you may manage your profile from Google Search, Google Maps, or the Google Business Profile manager.

STEP THREE

Click Add update to start creating a new post for your Google Business Profile.

If your Google interface looks different, look for a Posts, Add post, Promote, or Updates option. Google may display different labels depending on your account, device, business category, or profile settings.

STEP FOUR

Choose the type of post you want to create.

To share a standard blog post, select Add update. This option works well for general news, recent sessions, helpful articles, announcements, and educational blog content.

STEP FIVE

Add the content for your Google Business Profile update.

Upload a relevant image or video that connects to your blog post. This could be a featured session image, a behind-the-scenes photo, a seasonal graphic, or another visual that helps people understand what the post is about.

Write a short description that summarizes the blog post and encourages visitors to read more. Keep the description clear and helpful. Focus on what the reader will learn or why the post is useful.

Add a button to your update, then select Learn more. Paste the blog post URL you copied from your PhotoBiz website into the link field.

FINAL STEP

Review your update, image or video, description, button, and blog post link. When everything looks correct, click Post to publish your update.

After the update is published, it can appear on your Google Business Profile. Visitors who view the update can click the Learn more button to open the full blog post on your PhotoBiz website.

Additional Options or Helpful Notes

Google Business Profile gives you several post types you can use depending on what you want to share:

  • Add update: Best for blog posts, announcements, recent sessions, helpful tips, and general business news
  • Add offer: Best for limited-time promotions, discounts, or specials
  • Add event: Best for mini sessions, open houses, workshops, or other scheduled events

For most blog posts, Add update is the best option.

When writing your update, keep the description short and focused. You do not need to copy the full blog post into Google Business Profile. Use the update as a preview, then link readers back to your website.

Avoid placing a phone number directly in the update description. Google may reject some posts that include phone numbers in the post text. Use your Business Profile contact information or the button link instead.

Troubleshooting or FAQs

Why do I not see the Add update option?

Google Business Profile tools can appear differently depending on your account, device, business category, and profile status. Make sure you are logged in with an account that has access to manage the Business Profile and that the profile is verified.

Can I edit my PhotoBiz blog post after sharing it?

Yes. You can update the content of your PhotoBiz blog post after sharing it. The Google Business Profile update will still link to the same blog post URL as long as the blog post URL does not change.

What happens if I change the blog post title?

The blog post title can affect the blog post URL. If the URL changes after you have shared the post, the original Google Business Profile update may point to an old link. If you need to change the blog post URL, you may need to update the link in your Google Business Profile post or create a 301 redirect for the old URL.

Will sharing a blog post on Google Business Profile guarantee better search ranking?

No. Sharing blog posts on your Google Business Profile can help promote your content and send visitors back to your website, but it does not guarantee a specific ranking improvement in Google Search.
