Overview
Google Analytics is a free tool from Google that helps you understand how visitors interact with your website. You can see how people find your site, which pages they visit, and how they interact with your content.
You can connect Google Analytics to your PhotoBiz website by adding the Google tag to your Website Builder. This guide explains how to set up Google Analytics, add the tracking code to your PhotoBiz website, and verify that the installation is working.
You can also connect Google Analytics with Google Search Console for additional information about how your website appears and performs in Google search results.
Before you begin, make sure you have:
If you already use Google Analytics, you do not need to create another Analytics account. You can create a new property within your existing account and continue with the setup process.
PhotoBiz is not affiliated with Google. PhotoBiz can show you where to install the Google Analytics tracking code on your website, but Google manages the Analytics platform, reporting, and account settings.
For questions about Google Analytics itself, visit Google Analytics Help.
Google Analytics uses a Google tag to collect information from your website. You will copy this tracking code from Google Analytics and paste it into the Head section of your PhotoBiz Website Builder.
Log in to your Google Analytics account.
If you are setting up Google Analytics for the first time, follow Google's prompts to begin creating your Analytics account. If you already have an Analytics account, open Admin to create the property you want to use with your PhotoBiz website.
If you are creating a new Google Analytics account, click + Create and select Account.
Enter the account name you want to use and continue through Google's account setup options.
Enter the Account Name you want to use for your Google Analytics account, then continue to the property setup.
Enter your Property Name, Reporting Time Zone, and Currency.
Your property represents the website you want Google Analytics to track.
Enter your business information, including your Industry Category and Business Size, then continue.
Choose the business objectives that best describe how you plan to use Google Analytics.
You may see options such as generating leads, driving sales, understanding website traffic, or viewing user engagement. Select the options that apply to your business, then click Create.
When Google asks you to choose a platform for your data stream, click Web.
A Web data stream connects your PhotoBiz website with your Google Analytics property.
Enter your PhotoBiz website information.
Make sure https:// is selected and enter the www version of your domain, such as www.yourdomain.com. PhotoBiz uses the www version as the canonical version of your website, so we recommend using the same version when setting up Google Analytics.
Enter a Stream Name that will help you identify your website inside Google Analytics, then create the Web data stream.
After your Web data stream is created, open the installation instructions for your Google tag.
Click View tag instructions, choose the manual installation option, and copy the complete Google tag provided by Google Analytics.
Log in to your PhotoBiz account and click WEBSITE in the left-side menu to open the Website Builder.
Click TRACKING at the top of the Website Builder.
This opens the area where you can add tracking codes and other scripts to your website.
Paste the complete Google Analytics code into the Head section, then click Save.
If you already have other tracking code in the Head section, place the Google Analytics code above or below the existing code rather than replacing it.
Return to Google Analytics and verify that your Google tag is installed.
If Google displays Test installation, use it to check your website. When Google detects the tag correctly, follow the prompts to confirm the installation and finish the setup.
You can also open the Realtime report in Google Analytics and visit your website in another browser tab. Once Google Analytics begins receiving activity from your website, you should see that activity appear in the Realtime report.
After Google Analytics is connected, Google will begin collecting information about activity on your PhotoBiz website. Some information may appear quickly, while other reports can take longer to populate as Google processes your website traffic.
