Overview
AI services such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Meta AI use automated tools called web crawlers to collect publicly available website content. Depending on the service, this information may be used for AI training, search results, or other AI-powered features.
If you prefer to discourage AI crawlers from accessing your PhotoBiz website, you can add HTML meta tags that communicate your preferences to those services.
Important: These meta tags are a best-effort signal only. AI companies may not recognize or honor them, and adding them does not guarantee that your website, photographs, or other content will be excluded from AI crawling, indexing, or training.
This guide explains how to add the tags to your PhotoBiz website using the Website Builder's Tracking settings.
Log in to your PhotoBiz account and click WEBSITE in the left-side menu to open your Website Builder.
Click TRACKING at the top of the Website Builder to access your website tracking settings and sitemap URL.
Copy the AI Crawler Meta Tags
Copy the code below to add three AI crawler-specific meta tags to your website. These tags are intended to communicate your preference to discourage crawling by OpenAI (ChatGPT), Anthropic (Claude), and Meta (Facebook and Instagram).
You can use all three tags together or remove the tags for any AI services you do not want to target.
Add the Meta Tags to Your Website
In your TRACKING settings, locate the HEAD code field.
Paste your selected meta tags into this field.
If you already have tracking scripts, verification codes, or other custom code in the HEAD section, leave those in place. You can add the new tags above or below your existing code.
Do not remove existing Google Analytics, Google Search Console, or other verification codes when adding these tags.
Save Your Changes
Click SAVE CHANGES to apply the meta tags to your PhotoBiz website.
The tags are now included in your website's HEAD code, where crawlers that inspect the page's HTML may encounter them.
No additional publishing step is required.
Keep in mind that adding these tags does not confirm that an AI service has accepted your request or changed how it handles your website content.
Adding these meta tags does not change the visible appearance of your PhotoBiz website.
Your visitors can continue to browse your pages, view your photographs, contact you, and use your website normally.
These tags are intended for automated crawlers rather than human visitors. Because crawler support is not confirmed, they should not be relied upon to prevent your website from appearing in AI-generated responses or being used for AI training.
Will these tags prevent my photographs from being used for AI training?
Not necessarily. The tags communicate a preference, but they do not provide a technical restriction against accessing or downloading your photographs. AI crawlers may ignore them, and they cannot reverse the collection of content that has already occurred.
Will these tags affect my Google search rankings?
These tags are intended for specific AI crawlers, not Google's standard search crawler. They should not affect your Google search visibility. However, because support for these particular tags has not been confirmed, they should not be treated as a reliable way to control AI crawling or indexing.
What do noindex and nofollow mean?
noindex: Requests that a supporting crawler not include the page in its search index.
nofollow: Requests that a supporting crawler not follow links found on the page.
These instructions do not physically block access to a website or establish restrictions on AI model training. Their effectiveness depends on whether the crawler recognizes and honors them.
