If sales tax is not showing on an invoice in the PhotoBiz Quotes & Invoices tool, it is usually caused by missing tax settings or incomplete contact information. Sales tax calculations depend on both your ECommerce tax setup and the billing or shipping details of the contact receiving the invoice.
This guide walks you through the most common reasons sales tax does not appear and shows you how to correct them so your invoices calculate tax properly.
Confirm Your Sales Tax Settings Are Set Up
Log into your PhotoBiz account and click ECOMMERCE in the left-side menu.
At the top of the ECommerce control panel, click PAYMENTS, then select SALES TAX from the drop-down menu.
If you do not see any sales tax settings, sales tax cannot be applied to invoices. In that case, you will need to add a sales tax line first. Once sales tax is set up, you should see your tax configuration details on the screen.
If you have not completed this step yet, refer to How to Add a Sales Tax Line before continuing.
Open Quotes & Invoices
Click QUOTES & INVOICES in the left-side menu to access your invoicing tools.
Open the Invoices Section
At the top of the Quotes & Invoices control panel, click INVOICES to view your invoice list.
Open or Create an Invoice
Create a new invoice or click on an existing invoice number where sales tax is missing. This opens the invoice editor where tax calculations are applied.
Check the Contact’s Address Information
Sales tax is calculated based on the contact’s location details required by your Sales Tax settings. A full billing address is not always required for sales tax to calculate, but some payment processors may require a complete billing address in order to successfully process a payment.
If required location fields are missing, sales tax will not be calculated or displayed on the invoice.
To avoid issues with both tax calculation and payment processing, we recommend confirming the following fields are completed in the contact record:
Billing address (recommended for payment processing)
Country
State
County (only if your sales tax is set up by county)
After saving the contact details, return to the invoice and refresh it. Sales tax should calculate correctly, and the invoice will be ready for payment.
To fix this, open the contact record and confirm the following fields are filled in correctly:
Country
State
County (if your tax setup requires it)
Once these fields are saved, return to the invoice and refresh it. Sales tax should now calculate and display correctly.
Sales tax is calculated automatically based on your ECommerce tax rules and the contact’s address
The Sales Tax section in your ECommerce settings also generates tax reports to help with tracking and filing
If an invoice still does not show tax after correcting the contact details, confirm the invoice items are marked as taxable
💡 Pro Tip
The Sales Tax section in your ECommerce control panel will also generate tax reports for you, making it easier to keep track of your sales tax.
