How to Create a Coupon in PhotoBiz ECommerce

Overview

PhotoBiz ECommerce lets you create coupon codes for percentage discounts, dollar discounts, free shipping, and Buy One Get One promotions. You can use coupons to discount an entire qualifying order, individual items, groups of items, or purchases that meet specific requirements.

PhotoBiz organizes coupons into three categories: Percentage Discounts, Dollar Discounts, and Buy One Get One. This guide shows you where to create a coupon, explains the available coupon types, and directs you to the complete setup instructions for each category.

If you want a promotion to apply automatically without requiring your client to enter a coupon code, see How to Set Up a Sale Campaign.

Where Coupons Can Be Used

Coupons can be redeemed through:

  • ECommerce checkout
  • Client Galleries checkout

Eligible item types can include:

  • Products
  • Services
  • Scheduler
  • Packages
  • Prints
  • Digital Images

Coupons cannot be applied to:

  • Forms
  • Invoices

Only one coupon code can be applied to an order.

STEP ONE

Log in to your PhotoBiz account and click ECOMMERCE in the left-side menu. This opens the ECommerce Dashboard, where you can manage products, services, orders, payment settings, coupons, and other ECommerce features.

STEP TWO

Mouse over PAYMENT at the top of the ECommerce Dashboard, then click COUPONS from the drop-down menu. This opens the Coupons area where you can create and manage coupon codes.

STEP THREE

Click NEW COUPON. PhotoBiz displays the available coupon types organized into Percentage Discounts, Dollar Discounts, and Buy One Get One promotions.

FINAL STEP

Click the coupon type you want to create, then click CONTINUE at the bottom of the screen. The settings and additional setup steps that appear depend on the coupon type you select.

Use the sections below to choose the appropriate coupon type, then follow the linked guide for complete setup instructions.

Percentage Discounts

Use a Percentage Discount when you want to reduce a qualifying order or item by a percentage.

Available Percentage Discount coupons include:

  • % Off Total Order
  • % Off Single Item
  • % Off Group of Items

Percentage coupons can apply to an entire qualifying order, one qualifying item, or multiple qualifying items. Some options also let you set order-price or quantity requirements.

When entering a percentage Discount Amount, enter the whole number. For example, enter 7 for 7%, not .07.

See How to Create Percentage Discount Coupons in PhotoBiz for complete setup instructions.

Dollar Discounts

Use a Dollar Discount when you want to subtract a fixed dollar amount from a qualifying purchase or offer free shipping.

Available Dollar Discount coupons include:

  • $ Off Total Order
  • $ Off Single Item
  • $ Off Group of Items
  • Free Shipping

Depending on the coupon type, you can apply the discount to an entire qualifying order, specific items, groups of items, or selected shipping methods.

See How to Create Dollar Discount Coupons in PhotoBiz for complete setup instructions.

Buy One Get One Coupons

Use a Buy One Get One coupon when a qualifying purchase should unlock a discount or free item.

Available Buy One Get One coupons include:

  • Buy One, Get One % Off
  • Buy One, Get One $ Off
  • Buy One, Get One Free

BOGO coupons use a two-part item-selection process. You choose what the client must purchase to qualify and separately choose which items receive the discount or become free.

See How to Create Buy One Get One Coupons in PhotoBiz for complete setup instructions.

Choosing the Right Coupon

Choose % Off Total Order or $ Off Total Order when you want the promotion to apply to an entire qualifying order.

Choose % Off Single Item or $ Off Single Item when you want one qualifying item to receive the discount.

Choose % Off Group of Items or $ Off Group of Items when your promotion should apply to multiple qualifying items.

Choose Free Shipping when you want to remove qualifying shipping charges. You can control which available shipping methods are included when configuring the coupon.

Choose a Buy One Get One coupon when purchasing a qualifying item should provide a percentage discount, dollar discount, or free qualifying item.

What Your Client Sees

When your client reaches an eligible ECommerce or Client Galleries checkout, they can enter the coupon code you created.

If the order meets the requirements you configured, the applicable discount is applied and the order total updates.

Only one coupon code can be applied to an order.

Client Galleries Checkout Example

Clients can enter and apply a coupon code from the shopping cart in Client Galleries.

Client Galleries Coupon Applied Example

After a coupon is entered and applied successfully, the discount displays in the shopping cart. The client can continue shopping or proceed to checkout.

ECommerce Coupon Example

Clients can enter and apply a coupon code from the cart during ECommerce checkout.

ECommerce Coupon Applied Example

After a coupon is entered and applied successfully, the discount displays in the cart and the client can proceed to checkout.

If a client enters a coupon that cannot be applied, the cart will indicate that the coupon is invalid or that the items in the cart do not meet the coupon requirements.

Helpful Notes

  • Discount Code, Begin Date, and Expiration Date are required when creating a coupon.
  • Most coupon types also require a Discount Amount.
  • Free Shipping and Buy One, Get One Free do not include a Discount Amount field.
  • Percentage Discount Amounts should be entered as whole numbers, such as 10 for 10%, not .10.
  • Some coupon types let you limit the promotion by item, category, quantity, order amount, or shipping method.
  • Coupon settings vary depending on the coupon type you choose.
  • Only one coupon code can be applied to an order.
  • Coupons cannot be used with Forms or Invoices.
  • If you need a coupon that can only be redeemed once, see How to Create a Single Use Coupon.
  • If you want your promotional pricing to apply automatically without requiring a coupon code, use a Sale Campaign.

Troubleshooting and FAQs

Why isn't my coupon working?

Check the coupon's Begin Date, Expiration Date, qualifying items, usage limit, and any order-price, quantity, shipping, or Buy One Get One requirements you configured. The client's order must meet the coupon requirements before the discount can apply.
