Overview
PhotoBiz Client Galleries allows you to display a watermark over your photos while clients browse an event. You can use the default copyright (©) symbol or upload a custom watermark featuring your logo, business name, or copyright information.
You can also choose whether your watermark appears only when clients open an image or on both the larger images and gallery thumbnails. Custom watermarks can feature a single logo or a repeating pattern, depending on how you design the image.
This guide explains how to enable watermarks, adjust their visibility, upload a custom design, and control which Client Gallery events display your watermark.
Log in to your PhotoBiz account and click CLIENT GALLERIES in the left-side menu. This opens the Client Galleries Dashboard.
Click SETTINGS at the top of the Client Galleries Dashboard.
Locate WATERMARK VISIBILITY below the IMAGE PROTECTION settings.
These settings control the watermark design, its visibility, and where it appears in Client Galleries. You can separately turn watermarking on or off for individual events.
Under WATERMARK VISIBILITY, select a percentage from the dropdown menu to control how prominently your watermark appears over gallery images.
You can choose a percentage from 0% to 100%, in 5% increments. Lower percentages make your watermark more transparent, while higher percentages make it more visible. Selecting 0% hides the watermark without requiring you to remove your uploaded design.
Next, under Display watermark in:, select where you want your watermark to appear.
Large image view only: Displays the watermark when a client opens an individual image for a larger preview.
Large image view and Grid view: Displays the watermark on both the gallery thumbnails and the larger image previews.
Choose the option that works best for how you want clients to view your photographs.
If you haven't uploaded a custom watermark, PhotoBiz uses the default copyright symbol.
To replace the default copyright symbol with your own design, click ADD FILES or drag and drop your watermark into the upload area.
Your custom watermark must be a PNG file, with maximum dimensions of 3000 pixels wide by 1730 pixels high.
We recommend using a transparent background so only your logo, text, or artwork appears over your gallery images.
You have several options when creating your watermark:
Single Logo: Use a transparent PNG containing one logo or copyright notice. PhotoBiz centers the uploaded watermark by default.
Repeating Logo: Arrange multiple copies of your logo across a transparent PNG to create a repeating watermark pattern.
Custom Placement: Create a transparent 3000 × 1730-pixel canvas and position your artwork where you want it to appear. Leave the remaining canvas transparent.
You can also use the free PhotoBiz Watermark Maker to create a custom watermark without needing design software.
The Watermark Maker creates a 1730 × 1730-pixel transparent PNG and lets you choose between a centered logo and a repeating tiled pattern. The finished file is ready to upload to Client Galleries without resizing.
If you prefer to use the default copyright symbol, you can skip uploading a custom watermark.
Click SAVE CHANGES to apply your watermark settings.
Your selected watermark design, visibility percentage, and display location will be used in Client Gallery events where Display Watermark is enabled.
Open one of those events to preview the results. We recommend checking both landscape and portrait images to see how your watermark appears.
If you selected Large image view and Grid view, review the watermark on both the gallery thumbnails and the larger image previews.
Your changes take effect when saved. There is no separate publish step.
When clients open an event with watermarking enabled, your selected watermark appears over the gallery images.
Where the watermark appears depends on your Display watermark in: setting.
If you selected Large image view only, clients see the watermark when they open an individual image.
If you selected Large image view and Grid view, clients see the watermark while browsing the gallery thumbnails and when viewing individual images at a larger size.
Your watermark can contain one logo, a copyright symbol, or multiple copies of your logo. PhotoBiz displays the artwork contained in your watermark graphic using the same watermark settings.
Important: Gallery watermarks are not added to files clients download.
If you want a watermark to appear on downloaded photographs, you must apply it directly to the image file before uploading it to Client Galleries.
You can manage your event's download settings separately to control which files clients can receive.
The following examples show how different watermark designs appear in the Client Galleries grid view.
All four examples use the same PhotoBiz watermark functionality. The difference is in the artwork contained in each watermark graphic.
If you want your watermark to appear multiple times across each photograph, you can create a repeating design before uploading it to PhotoBiz.
The easiest option is to use the free PhotoBiz Watermark Maker. Select the tiled layout to create a repeating logo pattern, then download your transparent PNG.
You can also create your own design using photo editing or graphic design software.
For a custom design, create a transparent canvas up to 3000 × 1730 pixels and arrange multiple copies of your logo across the canvas. Save the completed artwork as a PNG and upload it using the instructions above.
PhotoBiz displays your completed graphic over gallery images. It does not automatically generate a repeating pattern from a single uploaded logo.
To change the pattern, edit your watermark design and upload the revised file.
For additional guidance, see How to Change the Watermark Position in Client Galleries.
Your WATERMARK VISIBILITY settings control the watermark design, transparency, and display location used throughout Client Galleries.
However, each event has its own Display Watermark setting that determines whether the watermark appears in that event.
This allows you to display watermarks in some Client Galleries while leaving them disabled in others.
For example, you might want a watermark on a proofing gallery where clients select their favorite images but prefer to leave it off a different event.
Turning the watermark off for an individual event does not delete your uploaded watermark or change the settings for other events.
For instructions, see How to Turn Your Watermark On or Off for a Specific Client Gallery.
Watermarks and IMAGE PROTECTION are separate features in PhotoBiz Client Galleries.
A watermark displays your logo, copyright symbol, or other artwork over gallery images. This helps identify your photographs and can discourage unauthorized screenshots or sharing.
IMAGE PROTECTION provides additional controls over how visitors can view and interact with your photographs.
You can use both features together for additional protection, although no online setting can completely prevent someone from capturing an image displayed on their screen.
For more information, see How to Change Image Protection Settings in PhotoBiz Client Galleries.
