Overview
If you currently use a domain-based email address, such as you@yourdomain.com, with another email provider, you can switch that address to PhotoBiz Mailbox.
Switching email providers changes where new messages for your email address are delivered. It does not automatically transfer your existing emails, contacts, folders, or other stored information from your current provider.
This guide walks you through preparing your existing email, signing up for PhotoBiz Mailbox, completing the switch, and accessing your new mailbox.
Before switching to PhotoBiz Mailbox, make sure you have saved any email or other information you want to keep from your current email provider.
Each email provider handles email exports and backups differently. Contact your current provider if you need help downloading or archiving your existing mailbox.
Depending on your provider, you may want to save:
.PST or .MBOX fileDo not cancel your current email service until you have saved everything you need.
Archive or export your existing email before starting the switch to PhotoBiz Mailbox.
Your new PhotoBiz Mailbox begins as a new mailbox. Messages stored with your previous email provider are not automatically imported or transferred when your domain begins using PhotoBiz Mailbox.
If you need help exporting your messages, contact your current email provider for instructions before continuing.
Sign up for PhotoBiz Mailbox from your PhotoBiz account.
Follow the instructions in How Do I Add a Mailbox to order your new mailbox and create its password.
Make sure you use the same domain-based email address you want to continue using. For example, if your current address is studio@yourdomain.com, you can continue using that address after the switch to PhotoBiz Mailbox.
After your PhotoBiz Mailbox is set up, your domain's email routing settings will be changed so new email is delivered to PhotoBiz Mailbox instead of your previous email provider.
These changes can take time to update across the internet. Email service may be temporarily interrupted while the new settings propagate. In many cases, the change is completed within several hours, but propagation can take up to 48 hours.
During this transition, some messages may begin routing to the new mailbox before others. Plan the switch for a time when a temporary interruption in email service will have the least impact on your business.
Switching your domain's email routing does not necessarily delete your previous provider's stored email. Whether you can continue accessing those older messages depends on your previous email provider and whether that account remains active.
Once the switch is complete, go to mailbox.photobiz.com and log in using your full PhotoBiz Mailbox email address and Mailbox password.
Manually type your full email address and password instead of relying on your browser to autofill the login fields. Saved browser credentials may contain an old password or incorrectly entered email address.
Make sure there are no spaces before or after your email address.
If you see the message Contact Your Email Administrator, re-enter your full email address carefully. This message usually means the email address entered on the login screen does not match the mailbox you are trying to access.
After you can log in successfully, send yourself a test message from another email address and reply to it from your PhotoBiz Mailbox. This confirms that you can both receive and send email through the new mailbox.
Changing to PhotoBiz Mailbox does not move previously stored email into your new inbox.
After the switch:
This is why you should archive or export any important information before changing providers.
You can use PhotoBiz Mailbox with compatible email applications on your computer, phone, or tablet.
If you previously used the same email address with another provider, you will need to configure the address again using your PhotoBiz Mailbox settings. Your email application may still contain settings for your previous provider, so simply changing the password may not be enough.
In many cases, the cleanest option is to add your PhotoBiz Mailbox as a new email account using the PhotoBiz Mailbox server settings.
Consider making the change during a period when you expect fewer important emails, since domain email settings may take time to propagate.

Why are my old emails not showing in PhotoBiz Mailbox?
PhotoBiz Mailbox does not automatically import messages from your previous email provider. Your new mailbox starts with new messages delivered after the switch.
If you need access to older email, check the backup you created before switching or contact your previous provider about accessing your stored messages.
Why can't I log in after the switch?
Make sure you are using your full email address and the password created for your PhotoBiz Mailbox.
Manually type both fields instead of using browser autofill. Also check that your email address is spelled correctly and does not contain a space before or after it.
What does “Contact Your Email Administrator” mean?
This message generally indicates that the email address entered on the Mailbox login screen does not match the mailbox you are trying to access.
Delete the email address from the login field, manually type the complete address again, and make sure there are no extra spaces.
Can I keep the same email address?
Yes. Switching email providers does not require you to change your domain-based email address. The change affects the email service that receives and stores new messages for that address.
Do I need to set up my email again on my phone or computer?
Yes. If you use an email application such as Apple Mail or Outlook, configure your PhotoBiz Mailbox using the new Mailbox settings. Settings saved for your previous email provider will not connect to PhotoBiz Mailbox.
