How to Use Anchor Links with Buttons in PhotoBiz

Overview

Anchor links let you send visitors directly to a specific section of a page on your PhotoBiz website. When you use an anchor link with a button, visitors can click the button and jump to a block such as Pricing, Contact, Book Now, Featured Galleries, FAQs, or a newsletter signup form.

This guide explains how to rename a block so it can be used as an anchor link, then connect that block to a Button Block. By the end of this guide, you will know how to create a button that links to a specific block on the same page or another page of your website.

STEP ONE

Log in to your PhotoBiz account and click WEBSITE in the left-side menu.

This opens your Website Builder, where you can manage your website pages, blocks, layouts, and buttons.

STEP TWO

Open the page that contains the block you want visitors to jump to.

For example, if you want a button to take visitors directly to your pricing section, open the page that contains your pricing block. If you want visitors to jump to a form, open the page that contains the Form Block you want to use as the destination.

STEP THREE

Find the block you want to use as the anchor destination. Click the block name in the top right corner of the block.

Rename the block with a clear, simple name that describes the section. For example, you can rename the block Pricing Inquiry Form, Book Now, Contact, FAQs, or Featured Galleries.

The right-side panel will open. Type the new block name, then click Save Changes to apply the updated block name.

This block name is not visible to visitors on your website. It is used inside your Website Builder to help you identify the block when setting up the anchor link. By default, the selection menu identifies blocks by block type. Renaming the block adds your custom label in parentheses next to the block type, which makes it much easier to choose the correct section later.

STEP FOUR

Open the page where you want to add the button.

If the button will appear on the same page as the anchor destination, stay on that page. If you want the button on a different page, open the page where the button should appear.

From the right-side menu, select the Button Block icon. You can click the icon to add the Button Block to the bottom of the page, or you can click and drag it to place it in a specific location.

As you drag the block, a teal bar will appear to show where the Button Block will be placed.

STEP FIVE

Browse the library of Button Block layouts and click Select on the layout you want to use.

Blank blocks will use your website’s global styling settings. Predesigned blocks will use custom design settings that match the selected layout.

STEP SIX

Edit the button text so visitors know what will happen when they click it.

Use clear action text such as Subscribe for Updates, View Pricing, Book Now, Contact Me, See FAQs, or View Portfolio. Clear button text helps visitors understand where the button will take them.

STEP SEVEN

Choose what your button will link to.

In the button link settings, set Link To to Page. This option allows you to link the button to an existing page on your PhotoBiz website, including a specific block on that page.

Under Choose A Page, select the page that contains the block you want to use as the anchor destination. Then, under Choose A Block, select the specific block you want visitors to land on when they click the button.

The renamed block will display the name you gave it in parentheses next to the block type. This makes it easier to confirm that you are selecting the correct block.

Anchor links can be used for a block on the same page or a block on a different page of your website. If the block is on the same page, the button will scroll visitors down to that section. If the block is on a different page, the button will open that page and scroll visitors to the selected block.

FINAL STEP

Click Save to apply your changes.

Visit your website and test the button. When you click the button, the page should jump directly to the block you selected. If the button does not go to the correct section, return to the Button Block settings and confirm that the correct page and renamed block are selected.

Additional Options and Helpful Notes

Anchor links work best when your block names are short, descriptive, and easy to recognize.

Helpful block names include:

  • Pricing
  • Contact
  • Book Now
  • FAQs
  • Featured Galleries
  • Testimonials
  • Availability
  • Services
  • Pricing Inquiry Form
  • Newsletter Signup

Avoid using long block names or names that are too similar to each other. This can make it harder to choose the correct anchor destination when setting up your button.

Anchor links are especially helpful on longer pages where visitors may need a faster way to reach important sections. Common uses include buttons that jump to pricing, booking details, contact forms, FAQs, service descriptions, testimonials, or newsletter signup forms.

For shorter pages, a regular page link may be enough. Anchor links are most useful when the visitor would otherwise need to scroll to find the section.

For best results, place anchor link buttons near the top of longer pages so visitors can quickly jump to the most important sections. You can also place buttons throughout the page to guide visitors toward booking, contacting you, viewing pricing, or completing a form.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

I do not see the block I want to link to

Make sure the block has been renamed and that you are selecting the correct page in the button link settings. The Choose A Block menu only shows blocks from the page selected under Choose A Page.

I renamed the block, but I still do not see it in the Choose A Block menu

Confirm that you selected the correct page under Choose A Page. If you recently renamed the block, click Save, then return to the Button Block settings and check the Choose A Block menu again.

The button links to the page, but not the right section

Return to the Button Block settings and confirm that both the correct page and the correct block are selected. If only the page is selected, the button may open the top of the page instead of jumping to a specific block.

The button does not appear on my website

Make sure you clicked Save after adding or editing the Button Block. The Save button automatically applies updates to your website. There is no separate publish button.

If you have any questions about the Button block, please give our Support Team a call toll-free at 866.463.7620 or send us a live chat from your PhotoBiz control panel. We're available Monday - Friday 9:00am - 8:00pm EST and we're happy to help you however we can.
