How to Optimize an Existing Image Gallery Page for SEO on PhotoBiz
If you already have an image gallery page on your PhotoBiz website, that’s a great start! But to make the most of it—both for your visitors and for search engines—there are a few simple ways to enhance the page for better performance and discoverability.
This guide walks you through how to improve an existing gallery page by:
- Adding SEO-friendly titles and descriptions
- Improving image load times
- Including helpful text for your audience (and Google)
- Linking to other pages to avoid “dead ends”
- Submitting your updates to Google via Search Console
STEP ONE
Open Your Gallery Page
-
Log in to your PhotoBiz account.
-
Go to the Website section and open the existing gallery page you want to optimize.
-
Click Edit Page to begin making updates.
STEP TWO
Review & Curate Your Images
Take a look at the images on your gallery page:
- Aim to display your best 30–50 photos per gallery.
- Remove outdated or duplicate images.
- Update images to reflect your current style and skill level.
- Add alt text to your images to describe the image (optional)
💡 Too many images can slow down your page. Use the “Load More” feature to keep the page fast.
STEP THREE
Add or Edit Your Page Title
Every gallery page should have a clear, descriptive title that includes what the gallery is and where you offer that service.
Example:
“Senior Photography in Asheville, NC”
This automatically becomes your page’s H1 tag, which helps with SEO.
To edit the title:
- Add or update the Title Block at the top of the page. You should only use one H1 tag per page.
- Include your service type and location if applicable.
STEP FOUR
Write or Update Your Page Description
Underneath your title, add a paragraph or two (aim for 300–500 words) describing:
- The type of photography shown in the gallery
- Who it's for (e.g., seniors, families, couples)
- Where you offer your services
- What makes your work unique
💬 Example Description (for senior portraits):
"Jane Doe Photography captures modern senior portraits in Charlotte, NC, and surrounding areas. Whether you're an athlete, musician, or artist, my goal is to highlight what makes you unique. Sessions can be on location or in-studio, with beautiful options for both digital images and wall art for your family to enjoy."
Tip: Write for people, not search engines—but include relevant keywords naturally.
STEP FIVE
Add a Call to Action or Contact Form
Avoid leaving your gallery page as a “dead end.” Make sure there’s something for your visitor to do next:
Good options:
- Contact Form: Use a form block at the bottom to let people inquire right away.
- Call to Action Button: Link to your booking page, pricing, or a detailed session info page.
- Secondary Menu: Add a navigation block that links to related galleries or services.
Example Button Text:
- “Book Your Session”
- “View Pricing & Packages”
- “See More Galleries”
STEP SIX
Check & Customize Your SEO Settings
To fine-tune what search engines see:
-
In the page editor, click the SEO button (usually in the top toolbar).
-
Switch from Auto SEO to Custom SEO if you want full control.
-
Update:
-
SEO Page Title – a short, clear title (e.g., Senior Photos in Asheville, NC – Jane Doe Photography)
-
Meta Description – a 1–2 sentence summary of the page
-
Keywords – optional, but include phrases your audience might search
-
💡Each page should have unique SEO data. Don’t copy and paste from other pages.
STEP SEVEN
Submit Your Page to Google
PhotoBiz automatically updates your sitemap when you update your site—no need to publish it manually. But if you want Google to index your changes faster:
-
Visit Google Search Console
-
Log in and select your domain
-
Go to the Sitemaps section
-
Enter:
sitemap.xml
(e.g.,yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml
) -
Click Submit
