Overview
If your domain was registered through PhotoBiz, PhotoBiz manages the domain registration, DNS settings, and renewals as part of your membership. If you want direct control of your domain registration, renewals, DNS settings, nameservers, or future registrar changes, you can request to transfer your domain out of PhotoBiz.
This guide explains how to transfer control of your domain registration by creating an ENOM account, preparing your ENOM account to receive the domain, and sending PhotoBiz Support the information needed to process your request.
PhotoBiz transfers domains out by pushing the domain registration into your ENOM account. This is the only way to transfer a domain out of PhotoBiz. We use this process so you can take over your domain almost immediately and have access to move the domain to any provider you prefer without waiting for a standard domain transfer to process.
Transferring your domain registration gives you direct control of your domain while still allowing you to keep your PhotoBiz services active if you choose.
Before you request a domain transfer out, make sure you are ready to:
Domains registered through PhotoBiz are managed through ENOM, our domain registrar. To transfer control of your domain to you, PhotoBiz pushes the domain registration into your ENOM account.
This is different from a standard registrar transfer, where you request an authorization code and wait for the domain transfer to complete between two providers. PhotoBiz does not use that process for transferring domains out of your account.
Instead, the domain is pushed directly into your ENOM account. This allows you to take over the domain registration much faster. Once the domain is in your ENOM account, you can keep it with ENOM or transfer it to another domain provider of your choice.
After the transfer is complete, you will manage the domain from ENOM. This includes renewals, DNS settings, nameservers, contact information, and any future transfer requests.
The transfer fee is a one-time $25.00 administrative fee per domain name. Transfer requests received during normal support hours are typically processed the same business day. Requests received after hours, on weekends, or on holidays will be processed on the next business day.
If your main goal is to use your domain with another website provider, you may not need to transfer the domain registration out of PhotoBiz. You can ask PhotoBiz Support whether a Domain Only membership is a better fit before requesting the transfer.
A Domain Only membership is an annual plan where PhotoBiz continues to renew your domain name registration for you. This option lets you keep your domain registered through PhotoBiz while using it with a third-party website platform.
With a Domain Only membership, PhotoBiz remains responsible for renewing the domain registration. Your domain can still point to another website provider by updating the domain’s DNS settings.
This may be a better option if you want to use your domain with another platform but do not want to manage the domain registration yourself.
Create a free ENOM account using the following link:
https://www.enomcentral.com/myaccount/create-account-retail.aspx
You will need this ENOM account before PhotoBiz can transfer your domain registration to you. Make sure you save your ENOM username, since PhotoBiz will need it to complete the transfer.
Set up your ENOM profile before contacting PhotoBiz Support.
Your ENOM account must be fully prepared before PhotoBiz can push the domain into your account. Complete your ENOM profile, add a payment method, and make sure your account is set to allow account pushes.
To enable account pushes, you may need to submit a verified support request to ENOM. This step is required by ENOM and must be completed before PhotoBiz can process the domain transfer.
For help with this, check out: Submit a Verified Support Request
After your ENOM account is ready, email PhotoBiz Support with the information needed to process the transfer.
Include the domain name you want to transfer, your ENOM username, and confirmation that your ENOM account is set to allow pushes. You must also authorize PhotoBiz to charge the one-time $25.00 transfer fee to the card on file in your PhotoBiz account.
Once PhotoBiz receives the required information, our Domains Team will process the transfer. After the transfer is complete, the domain will be managed from your ENOM account.
Confirm what you want to do with your PhotoBiz membership after the domain transfer is complete.
Let PhotoBiz Support know whether you want to keep your PhotoBiz membership active, cancel your account, or change your account to a Domain Only membership if that option works better for your needs.
If you plan to cancel, we recommend waiting until the domain transfer has been completed and confirmed.
If you continue hosting your website with PhotoBiz, your domain can still point to your PhotoBiz website after the transfer. However, you will be responsible for maintaining the domain’s DNS settings through ENOM.
After the domain is transferred to your ENOM account, you are responsible for future domain renewals and domain management.
You may choose to keep the domain registered with ENOM or transfer it to another registrar later.
Transferring domain registration out of PhotoBiz does not automatically change your website, email, or account features. However, changing nameservers or DNS records after the transfer can affect your website, email, forms, galleries, and other connected services.
If your website, email, or other services rely on the domain, make sure your DNS settings remain correct after the transfer.
The $25.00 transfer fee is a one-time administrative fee for processing the ownership transfer of the domain registration.
If you do not want to manage your domain registration yourself, ask PhotoBiz Support if a Domain Only membership is a better fit before requesting the transfer.
Is this the only way to transfer a domain out of PhotoBiz?
Yes. PhotoBiz transfers domains out by pushing the domain registration into your ENOM account. This is the only transfer-out method available for domains registered through PhotoBiz.
Why does PhotoBiz use an ENOM account push instead of a standard domain transfer?
PhotoBiz uses the ENOM account push process so you can take over the domain registration almost immediately. After the domain is in your ENOM account, you have access to manage it directly or move it to any domain provider you prefer without waiting for a standard registrar transfer to process first.
Is this the same as a standard domain transfer?
No. A standard domain transfer usually requires an authorization code and can take several days to complete between registrars. PhotoBiz does not use that process for transferring domains out.
Instead, PhotoBiz pushes the domain registration into your ENOM account. Once the domain is in your ENOM account, you can decide whether to keep it with ENOM or transfer it to another registrar.
Can I transfer the domain to another provider after it is in my ENOM account?
Yes. After the domain is pushed into your ENOM account, you can manage it through ENOM or transfer it to another domain provider of your choice.
Will my website or email stop working when the domain is pushed to ENOM?
The domain push does not automatically change your website or email settings. However, if nameservers or DNS records are changed after the transfer, your website, email, and connected services may be affected.
Can I keep using my PhotoBiz website after transferring the domain?
Yes. Transferring your domain registration out of PhotoBiz does not automatically cancel your PhotoBiz membership or remove your website. If you keep your PhotoBiz website active, your domain can still point to your PhotoBiz website after the transfer.
Can PhotoBiz still manage my domain after it is transferred?
After the domain is transferred to your ENOM account, you are responsible for managing the domain registration, renewals, nameservers, DNS records, and future transfer requests.
Can I use my domain with another website provider without transferring it out?
Yes. Ask PhotoBiz Support if a Domain Only membership is a better option. This allows PhotoBiz to continue renewing the domain while the domain points to another website provider.
