How to Move from the Legacy Website Builder to PhotoBiz 9 Using the AI Website Builder

PhotoBiz’s Legacy Website Builder was actively developed between 2013 and 2018 and is no longer receiving updates. While Legacy websites can remain live and editable, they do not support SSL and do not include modern features available in PhotoBiz 9.

PhotoBiz 9 uses the AI Website Builder to create a new website using your selected template, images, and business details. Your Legacy website remains live while you build and review your new site on a temporary sub-domain. You will also continue to have access to your Legacy website content, allowing you to copy and paste text into your new PhotoBiz 9 site if desired.

Important Notes Before You Begin

The legacy import option is no longer available.

This process applies only to Legacy Website Builder websites.

Page text and layouts are not imported automatically, but all Legacy website text remains accessible for copy and paste.

Images from your Legacy website can be reused by moving them to the clipboard or uploading them again.

Existing account features such as blogs, ecommerce items, services, and galleries are already available in PhotoBiz 9.

If your website is using the HTML5 Portfolio website, refer to the guide on migrating to PhotoBiz 9 from Portfolio. If you are unsure which builder your site is using, the PhotoBiz Support Team can confirm this for you.

Start the PhotoBiz 9 Website Creation Process

While viewing your Legacy Website Builder site, click TRY PHOTOBIZ 9 in the top-right corner of the screen to begin creating your new website.

Your Legacy website remains accessible during this process so you can reference or copy content as needed.

STEP THREE

Select a Website Template

Browse the available PhotoBiz 9 website templates. Click the green SELECT button on the template you want to use. The selected template will be outlined in teal.

Click CONTINUE in the right-side panel to proceed. Completing the AI setup saves time by automatically generating your website layout, placeholder content, image alt text, and metadata.

STEP FOUR

Add or Confirm Your Logo

If you already have a logo uploaded, it will appear in this section. You can upload a new logo or choose to use your business name as a text logo.

If you upload a different logo later, it will automatically replace the existing one. You do not need to delete the current logo first.

Click CONTINUE to move forward

STEP FIVE

Add Your Images

You can move existing images from your Legacy Website Builder into the clipboard or upload new images to your account.

The AI Website Builder uses at least 25 images to create your initial website design. During this process, your images are optimized for web performance and automatically assigned image alt text to improve accessibility and search engine visibility.

Once your images appear in the control panel, click CONTINUE.

STEP SIX

Enter Your Business Information

Enter your business name, location, specialty or services, style or approach, and brand voice. This information is used to generate website text, page titles, meta descriptions, and other SEO-related metadata.

When finished, click CREATE WEBSITE to begin building your new site.

FINAL STEP

Review and Customize Your New Website

Once website creation begins, it takes approximately 12 minutes for the initial version of your PhotoBiz 9 website to be ready. When complete, you will see a Website Created Successfully message.

Your new site opens in the PhotoBiz 9 Website Builder, where you can edit pages, paste text from your Legacy website, adjust layouts, and add additional content. The site is created on a sub-domain so you can work privately without affecting your live Legacy website.

When you are ready, you can publish the new site to replace your existing website.

Additional Options / Helpful Notes

Your Legacy website remains live and unchanged until you launch the new site.
Images from the Legacy Website Builder must be added manually.
Layout and styling are controlled by the PhotoBiz 9 template and Website Builder tools.
You are not required to launch your PhotoBiz 9 website immediately.
Once launched, SSL can be enabled.
Google reCAPTCHA can be added in PhotoBiz 9 to help protect against spam submissions.

Troubleshooting / FAQs

Does this process delete my Legacy website?
No. Your Legacy website remains live until you choose to launch your new PhotoBiz 9 site.

Will my Legacy design be copied automatically?
No. The AI Website Builder creates a new layout and design.

Can I work on the new site without customers seeing it?
Yes. Your PhotoBiz 9 site is created on a sub-domain and is not public until you launch it.

Do I need to schedule downtime?
No. Your live website stays active until you replace it.

What will my membership cost after moving to PhotoBiz 9?
For most customers, pricing remains the same. Legacy plans transition to the $29 Website Package once the PhotoBiz 9 site is launched. This includes 5,000 files as the base package.

This transition retires Legacy Builder–only features and provides access to PhotoBiz 9 features such as SSL encryption, Scheduling, Client Galleries, Blog, Quotes & Invoicing, and other modern tools.
