Overview
The Video Block in the PhotoBiz Website Builder allows you to upload a mobile cover image for supported video layouts. This image controls what visitors see on mobile devices before they tap to play the video or while the video area loads.
Sometimes the mobile cover image may appear cropped differently than expected because mobile screens are narrower than desktop screens. You can adjust the image focal point to control which part of the image stays centered on mobile. This guide explains how to update the focal point for a Video Block mobile cover image so the most important part of your image displays correctly.
Before you begin, make sure you have a Video Block added to one of your website pages.
You will also need a mobile cover image uploaded to your Video Block. Mobile cover images are especially helpful for banner, full screen, and other video layouts where the video area needs a still image on mobile devices.
Log in to your PhotoBiz account. Click WEBSITE in the left-side menu to open the Website Builder.
Click the page that contains the Video Block you want to update.
After the page opens, locate the Video Block on the page. Click directly on the block or click the pencil icon to open the block settings.
In the Video Block settings, scroll down to the mobile cover image section. You'll see your mobile cover image located there. The focal point appears as a crosshair on the image. This crosshair tells the system which part of the image should stay centered when the image is cropped or resized for mobile display.
Move the focal point crosshair to the most important part of the image.
For example, if the subject of the mobile cover image is being cut off, move the focal point toward that subject. If the top of the image is displaying too much empty space, move the focal point lower. The goal is to place the focal point over the area you want visitors to see first on mobile devices.
Click Save Changes at the bottom of the Video Block settings to apply your update.
After saving, preview your website on a mobile device or use a mobile preview to confirm the cover image displays correctly. The mobile cover image should now focus on the part of the image you selected.
The mobile cover image is designed to match the size and shape of the mobile video player area. This helps prevent the page layout from shifting when a visitor taps the video to play it.
Because mobile screens are narrower than desktop screens, the system may crop parts of the image to fit the video area. Adjusting the focal point does not change the image file itself. It changes which part of the image remains centered when the image is resized for mobile display.
Use a mobile cover image when you want more control over how your Video Block appears on phones and tablets.
The focal point is most useful when your image includes:
For best results, choose a mobile cover image that has extra space around the main subject. Images with important details placed too close to the edges may still crop on some screen sizes.
Why does my mobile cover image look cropped?
Some Video Block layouts fill the available video area. To do this, the image may crop slightly depending on the visitor’s screen size. You can adjust the focal point to control which part of the image stays centered.
Why does the mobile cover image match the video player size?
The mobile cover image displays at the same size as the mobile video player. This prevents the video area from changing size when a visitor taps to play the video.
Does adjusting the focal point change the original image?
No. The focal point only changes how the image is positioned inside the mobile display area. It does not edit or replace the original image file.
What should I do if the image still does not look right?
Try moving the focal point closer to the part of the image that needs to stay visible. If the image still crops too much, upload a different mobile cover image with more space around the subject.
