Overview
Color banding appears as visible bands or lines in areas that should have smooth color transitions, such as skies, shadows, or backgrounds. If you notice banding in a JPG or PNG image after uploading it to PhotoBiz, re-exporting the image in Adobe Photoshop with an sRGB color profile may help. This guide explains how to create a new JPG using settings that have resolved this issue for a PhotoBiz customer. After exporting, you can upload the new image and compare the results.
Please Note: These instructions create a JPG, even if your original image is a PNG. JPG files do not support transparent backgrounds. Keep your original file, especially if you need to preserve transparency.

Open your original image in Adobe Photoshop. If you have a higher-quality original or edited master file, use that version rather than an image downloaded from your website.
Before making changes, review the image at 100% zoom. Check the areas where you noticed banding so you can compare them with the exported version later.
Click EDIT, then click CONVERT TO PROFILE.
In the DESTINATION SPACE section, select sRGB IEC61966-2.1 from the PROFILE dropdown. Click OK to apply the conversion.
If the image already uses this profile, you can continue to the next step. Converting to sRGB helps prepare your image for online display.
Click FILE, then EXPORT, then SAVE FOR WEB (LEGACY).
Select JPEG as the file format and set QUALITY to a value between 80 and 90 as a starting point. Select the CONVERT TO sRGB and EMBED COLOR PROFILE checkboxes.
Review the image preview, paying particular attention to skies, backgrounds, and other areas with smooth color transitions. If banding remains visible, try increasing the quality and compare the preview again.
Click SAVE and save the exported image with a new filename so you can keep your original.
Open the exported JPG on your computer and review the affected areas at 100% zoom.
Compare it with your original image. If banding is already visible in the exported JPG, these settings may not fully resolve the issue. Further adjustments to the source image may be needed before uploading it to PhotoBiz.
Upload the new JPG to the affected area of your PhotoBiz website or Client Gallery.
View the uploaded image and compare the areas where you previously noticed banding. These settings may reduce or resolve the visible bands, although results can vary by image.
If the exported JPG looks smooth on your computer but shows banding after upload, check the page or gallery in another browser or on another device. If the issue continues, contact PhotoBiz Support and provide the exported JPG and a link to the affected page or gallery so our team can review it.
