Overview
You can embed a Google Calendar on your PhotoBiz website to display events, schedules, or other calendar information to your website visitors. Google provides an embed code that you can add to your site using an HTML Block.
This guide explains how to get your Google Calendar embed code, add it to your PhotoBiz website, make the calendar fit better on mobile devices, and verify that it displays correctly.
Please Note: PhotoBiz is not affiliated with Google. PhotoBiz Support can help you add an HTML Block and paste your Google Calendar embed code. For questions about Google Calendar settings, sharing permissions, functionality, or the embed code itself, visit Google Calendar Help.
Before embedding a calendar, review the following:
On a computer, open Google Calendar and sign in to your Google account. Google currently requires the desktop version of Calendar to access the calendar embed code.
Click the Settings icon in the top-right corner and click Settings. On the left side of the screen, click the name of the calendar you want to display, then click Integrate calendar.
Under Embed code, click Customize if you want to adjust the calendar's display options. When you are finished, copy the embed code.
For Google's complete instructions, see Add a calendar to your website
Log in to your PhotoBiz account and click WEBSITE in the left-side menu.
This opens the Website Builder, where you can manage your website pages and content blocks.
Click the page where you want your Google Calendar to appear.
Locate the HTML Block on the right side of the Website Builder. Click the HTML Block icon to add it to the bottom of the page, or click and hold the icon and drag it to the location where you want the calendar to appear.
If you are not familiar with HTML Blocks, see How to Use the HTML Block on Your PhotoBiz Website.
Click inside the HTML Block or click the pencil icon in the top-right corner of the block. Click Advanced to open the HTML settings.
Paste the complete Google Calendar embed code into the code field. Make sure you copy and paste the entire code provided by Google because missing or altered code may prevent the calendar from displaying correctly.
Do not click Save Changes yet if you want to adjust the calendar for smaller screens. Continue to the next step.
Google's embed code normally includes a specific width and height for the calendar. A fixed width may cause the calendar to extend beyond the available space on smaller screens.
If your Google Calendar embed code contains a fixed width, you can change the calendar width to 100% so it uses the available width of the HTML Block.
For example, your Google code may contain a width setting similar to:
width="800"
Change that portion to:
width="100%"
Leave the rest of Google's embed code unchanged unless you are comfortable editing HTML.
Because Google controls the embedded calendar, responsive behavior can vary depending on Google's code, your calendar settings, and the device being used.
Click Save Changes to add the calendar to your website. There is no separate publish button. Saving your changes automatically applies the update to your website.
Open the page on your public website and confirm that the Google Calendar appears correctly. Review the page on both a computer and a mobile device to make sure the calendar fits within the page and visitors can view the information you intended to share.
Your Google Calendar is successfully embedded when the calendar loads on your public website and displays the appropriate events or availability based on your Google Calendar sharing settings.
An embedded Google Calendar is useful when you want to display information such as:
If you want clients to actually choose an available appointment time and complete a booking online, use PhotoBiz Scheduler instead. Google Calendar embedded on a page does not replace the booking features available through PhotoBiz Scheduler.
Before copying your embed code, Google Calendar provides options for customizing how the calendar appears.
Depending on Google's current settings, you may be able to adjust options such as:
These settings are controlled by Google rather than PhotoBiz. Return to Google Calendar and generate updated embed code if you want to change the calendar configuration.
Why isn't my Google Calendar showing on my website?
First, confirm that you copied the complete embed code from Google Calendar and pasted it into the Advanced section of your HTML Block.
Also confirm that you clicked Save Changes and review your Google Calendar sharing settings. Visitors cannot see calendar information that Google does not give them permission to view.
Why can I see the calendar but my website visitors cannot?
Your Google account may have permission to view the calendar while the general public does not.
Review the calendar's sharing and visibility settings in Google Calendar. If the calendar is intended for everyone visiting your website, Google must be configured to allow those visitors to view it.
Be sure to review all calendar and event information before making anything public.
Why is my calendar cut off on a phone?
The Google Calendar embed code may be using a fixed width that is wider than the available screen.
Review STEP FIVE and check whether the width can be changed to 100%. You should always test embedded third-party content on both desktop and mobile devices after saving.
Why isn't an event appearing?
Check the event and calendar directly in Google Calendar first. The event's visibility and the calendar's sharing settings determine what website visitors can see.
For help with Google Calendar events, permissions, or visibility settings, visit Google Calendar Help.
Can PhotoBiz customize or troubleshoot my Google Calendar code?
PhotoBiz Support can help you add an HTML Block, locate existing code, and paste embed code that Google provides.
PhotoBiz Support cannot create, modify, troubleshoot, or guarantee the performance of Google's code or other third-party code. Contact Google or a web developer if the embed code itself needs to be changed beyond the basic width adjustment described in this guide.
Do I need to publish my website after adding the calendar?
No. Click Save Changes to apply the update to your website. PhotoBiz does not use a separate publish button.
