The banner has many customization options. This is a great opportunity to customize your website and give it a more custom look. There are two ways to customize your banner: by individual image and the banner as a whole. The banner area is available on Marquee Plus and Custom pages.
Begin by accessing your Builder icon and clicking on your Marquee Plus or Custom page. Add your banner images to the Banner Images section.
Banner Image Recommendations
- We recommend adding no more than 7-10 images to the banner.
- Do not use images with a vertical orientation in the banner section.
- Choose images that are not close ups, where the main subject matter is in the center of the image, to avoid cropping essential elements of your image.
Customizing Individual Images
Click on the thumbnail view button, and you'll be brought to a page that displays all the images you have uploaded to your banner. Here, you can click and drag an image to the delete button to delete it, or to the clipboard button to copy it. You can also click and drag your images to rearrange the order of the images.
If you click on the thumbnail of one of your images, you can see the customization options for that specific image:
Image: You can replace the image you selected by uploading an image or inserting an image from the clipboard. This will delete the current image and replace it with the image you add.
Image Focal Point: Click on the edit button and you'll be able to select the point on this image you'd like the banner to center on. This can be helpful if you're using a tall image and your banner is short and wide. After you've chosen a custom focal point, if you'd like to set it back to the default, you can click on the remove button that will appear.
Please note: The Image Focal Point does not enact a change if your site is using a full-screen template.
Link to a Web Page: This setting allows you to link your banner image to a specific place. This is a great tool to use if you're using your banner to promote a certain product/service you may be selling; you can link the banner to the page where it can be purchased.
Caption: Enter your caption text here and it will appear under the image on your home page.
After you've selected your preferences for your image, make sure to click on save changes at the bottom of the page.
Customizing your Banner Settings
Go back to the main banner images section and click on the settings button.
Auto Play Slideshow: Yes or No. If you set this to No, your viewers will have to use the slideshow controls manually to see the images in your banner.
Randomize: Yes or No. This will mix up the order of your banner images every time someone accesses your website. Note: the Triptych Mix and Quad Mix layouts automatically randomize your images, no matter how this setting is set.
Banner Height: Allows you to control the height of the banner on the page. Enter a number here between 100 and 650 pixels.
Show the following controls: Here, you can turn on/off the play/pause button and arrows, captions, and thumbnails. All of these controls will appear under the banner images.
Banner Layout: There are 5 different layouts for your banner to choose from: Classic (one image at a time), Duo Left (two images show at a time, image on the left is narrower than image on the right, images rotate independently of each other), Duo Right (two images show at a time, image on the right is narrower than image on the left, images rotate independently of each other), Triptych Mix (three images appear in a row in random order, images rotate independently of each other), and Quad Mix (four images appear in a row in random order, images rotate independently of each other).
Please note: The Banner Layout area is only available for Marquee Plus pages when using templates that are not full-screen.
Transition: Controls the transition style between images.
Speed: Controls the speed at which the images transition.
After you've selected your preferences for your banner, make sure to click on save changes at the bottom of the page.
