What should I do to switch email providers and start using Mailbox?

If you're using domain-based email (ie. name@domain.com), and you want to use the same email address but change your email provider, there are a few extra steps you'll need to take before making the switch. The most important task you need to do is archive all of your emails in your existing inbox. All email providers and email programs have different instructions on how to best archive your emails, so you'll want to inquire with your current email provider on how to do this.

Once your emails are archived, you're ready to sign up for your new email provider. Instructions on how to do so with PhotoBiz Mailbox can be found here. When we receive notification that you've signed up for Mailbox, we will make a change in your domain name set up to activate your Mailbox. This will make your email with your previous provider go down completely because one domain name cannot have multiple email providers. This is why it is very important to archive your emails first, because your old inbox will no longer be accessible and you will be starting over with a new, empty inbox. 

After the changes have been made to your domain set up, your new email will be working within 4-6 (and up to 48) hours. During this time, you will not receive any emails and you will not be able to send out any emails, so keep that in mind when you decide to change providers. 

When your new email address with Mailbox is up and running, you will be able to access it by going to mailbox.photobiz.com. If you'd like to use an email program on your computer or mobile device to send/receive email instead of checking it online, you'll need to set it up using our instructions that can be found here. You will need to set up the email address in your email program(s) as a new account, even if you've used the same email address in the same email program when your email was with a different provider.
